What temperature / color / spectrum lights to use?
    #21620129 - 05/01/15 12:20 AM (9 years, 20 days ago)

So I did a little searching, and all I've been able to find is that lights to help your grow, I was growing in the dark previously, so now I'm changing to a 12 12 cycle, just wondering what spectrum is the best?

I currently have 3 2600k, 1600 lumen cfl lights (4800 lumens is probably way over kill but whatever)

So, is 2600k, or 6500k preferred by the mushroom? I'm growing p cubenesis by the way, it's my own strain, I like to call the juggernaut. (it came from the wild, scope around my grow thread to see why it's nicknamed the juggernaut.)

Anyway, thanks for any in sight. Sorry if this has been asked before, I didn't find any really good information searching, but also to be honest I probably could have searched harder...sorry...

Practically any light will work.. Even if it's just from a window.

I like a couple clamp lights with the swirly Eco bulbs.

Lighting should be the last of your worries

Appreciate it! Obviously I know any light will do, because I found out that no light works fine too xD.

Just wondering if there's a better or best spectrum in anyone's experience?

Thank you for that information though!

I am new to posting but I am awake and figured I would reply what I do know from reading haha. From what I have read RR is a pretty solid source so I have read/watched his informational advice, but I also believe you have to try things to see what's good for you. RR believes you should use bright "natural sunlight" 5000k to 7000k bulb(s). It is also recommended to have the light angled at the FC, if possible.

I also believe, just personally, instead of artificial light you should use the natural sun light as much as possible. Not directly in the sun but enough so they can feel that shit too. The sun wants to share the love and the mushies want some.

Awesome, that's the butter zone my spectrum falls in,and yes, RR is the frickin man. Anything he says is probably true, but I agree you probably have to see what's best.

Ultimately I don't think it matters much, considering they grew in complete darkness in a storage room for a decent amount of time, and even fruited in the dark, the only time lights were on was when I walked in to check on them or get something which couldn't have been more than 20 minutes at a time. Probably not even once a day either.

Edit: thank you for the link! I'll check that out right now.

Yeah just get a normal 6500 bulb. Screw it into a desk lamp like they use in the pixar opening and shine it on the tub 12/12 schedule. Or so I heard :P personally I just use ambient room light from the sun.

I use to grow marijuana, I have basically every spectrum, in different lights, I just figured there's no reason to use metal halide or high pressure sodium to grow mushrooms.

Is brighter lumens better? Because I'm bombarding my buddies with a copious amount of lumens. Hahaha.

But what's the fun of just using one desk lamp? :frown: NEED MORE LUMENS.

I use one small 6500k CFL attached to the middle of the roof of a melamine vivarium. Covered the sides with black bin bags and you get a good substantial amount of light.

Wondering if I should add more  :shineon:

Sweet, as long as I can't give these suckers too much light. I notice they prefer the shade in the wild though, is that just because it gets too hot and dries out in the center of pastures?

Yeah pretty sure in the wild it's because it evaporates moisture but when you're growing them inside they are consistently watered and aren't exposed to UV lights so are all good :asianofapproval:
