Help Needed Identifying Wild Shrooms
    #21610408 - 04/28/15 06:54 PM (9 years, 22 days ago)

I literally just got back from picking some shrooms I found growing by a log in a wooded area. I was wondering if they could possibly be psychedelic.

Any help is much appriciated! Thank you!

Where were they found? My guess is an Inocybe Sp. As usual though, I'm an idiot, wait for a trusted I.D. etc. etc.

I think we'll need a little more information about habitat, like where in the world you found them and such. Maybe a trusted identifier wont need that, but noobs like me need it to even know where to open in our field guides and such.

Nahh man! You aren't an idiot. We all gotta start somewhere. I really have no idea what these are, but they definitely aren't active, don't even think about eating them

I found them underneath a log next to a stream. They were growing in like a bundle all around, underneath, and on the tree/log.

Idk man I'm pretty dumb, you must not have seen my threads xD

I'm pretty sure the striations on the cap, usually mean bad news in terms of toxicity. Every cap I've had that looked like that belonged to a toxic species. I'm not saying this is always true, just in my experience those lines are no good.

That Habitat is a start, but I also meant literally like what part of the world did you find them. Obviously not going to find tropical species in the northern Midwest of the USA.

I'm actually not even sure if this is true, Don't quote me and say good to know, I'm probably wrong  hahaha.

I'm definitely leaning towards Coprinellus, but both are possible. Just can't really tell due to the state they're in.

Yeah, that's not true at all. I can hardly think of a single trait that holds true as a an indicator that a mushroom is poisonous, active or edible. Certain combinations of traits can be useful for this, though, such as purple spore print + blue bruising = active. I think this is generally accepted as being accurate.

When I said it I had no idea someone would take it as fact and quote me like that, what I really meant was that every cap I've seen personally with striations, has been toxic. That's all. Sorry if anyone took my misinformation to heart.
