What Causes Blue....?
    #2160207 - 12/05/03 02:49 AM (13 years, 4 days ago)

What is causing the blueish color of my cakes? Is it too much humidity or too little? I've heard both.

It is just bruised. They bruise just as mushrooms do.

Blueing is a chemical reaction. Turning psilocibine into psilocine i thought maybe other way around because of contact with air.

Does mean potency gets less but don?t think you?ll hardly notice.

Not really - it is a reacction of enzymes that oxidise psilocin - it is irrelavant to the eventual potency of the mushrooms that the mycelia produces.

Uhm isn?t psilocin the active stuff what cauzes u to trip. oxidating is a nice word for decomposing(not really but sort off). So if 1 + 1 is 2 potency is reduced.
But there mustbe enough in the cake for the shrooms so yeah they won?t be ne less. Or perhaps when u use the cake as a soccer perhaps than......

Just wondering tho?

true - and valid - by your assuming that the alkaloids in the mycelia itself are all exhausted in the fruitbodies and that is something that there is no scientific evidence of.
