I just got word that Psilocybe caerulescens has been spotted in Troup County. Here's the new distribution map:

Let me know if any counties are missing.

Now who will be brave enough to put Clayton county on the map!? That white space right in the middle has been bothering me for some time now...
Two babies I left to grow four days ago... They didn't grow much more unfortunately. About 5 grams wet.

The map has expanded considerably the past few years. I bet we could get another layer of outer counties confirmed next season if we tried. I've thought About trying to expand the map again lately.

THe distribution map is an odd thing to have it seems, if it's ever changing and constantly incorrect It is cool and rewarding to try and expand it, but what else is the point of a distribution map if it's not actually accurate? Have people here actually begun to believe that people who hunt mushrooms are all posting the shit on the internet ?

Well, this is really a map of counties that they have definitely been found in. Nobody is claiming they don't exist elsewhere. They most certainly do.
The point is to document the distribution properly. If we just threw shit up there on the map assuming it was correct, how scientific would that be?
I'm sure there are hunters in counties where they haven't been reported who have found them and don't communicate regularly with the online mycology community. Of course! But you can't measure the unknown, right?
Besides, what's the alternative?

After a full analysis it appears the distribution map is influenced by the powerful and constant force created by Auburn sucking so hard. Go Dawgs!

Yeah, and they're REALLY all over South Carolina, you basically can't swing a snickers bar without hitting a dense cluster
