Mycelial Burn Transfers (Calling On RogerRabbits Opinion)

If youve ever used a foil tray for casing you know after while the mycelium will burn through.
It takes a while due to the trays thickness.
My mycelial burn transfer uses this process to spread mycelium into a substrate with little post-pc sterile technique..
You basically put spawn or clone on the foil and itl burn through colonizing the substrate!! (When I thought of this I freaked) Ofcourse I had to test it first
With a MBT you wont be able to shake.
Substrate Preparation Before you pc your sub you must fill your jars to the absolute top. Then cover the top in foil and make a divot pressing the foil into the sub so its touching. You then should put the top on secure & pc it.
In my test I used whole wheat macaroni.. I colonize pasta regularly its no big deal
2 days after placing over foil
I had accidently removed the foil covering the sub while trying to take an update of the 'burning' so I just took a pic in case.

Dont take off the foil pressed into the sub!! Youl expose it to contams! Once u spawn to foil put the lid on and let it colonize! I got to take a pic up close cuz I removed it by accident.
However, the great thing about a MBT is the fact that its so easy and worry free! You can clone multiple strains in half pint jars for potency check without hassle.
When cloning cut your chunk from the shroom and place over the foil.
To speed things along take a heated needle and while holding the chunk against the foil with A FINGER, poke through the chunk into the foil. Just until the foil tears.
In 2 days when that chunk gets hairy itl break through that foil even faster.
If you do a re-tek Credit Me!

How many times have you done this?
I would think that lack of GE would be an issue with colonizing the bottom of the jar. That's a simple fix, but something to be aware of.

pretty cool
-------------------- But if you're in a hurry, and really got to go If you're in a hurry, might have to find out slow That it's one thing to try and another to fly You get there quicker just a step at a time It's one thing to bark, another to bite The show ain't over till you pack up at night

Without GE, you might run into stalling before the top even colonized. I would put some pin pricks into the foil instead of taking it off. Taking off the lid will make the myc start to fruit before it's done colonizing. Contams might (probably will) be able to sneak past little cracks around the sides of the jar even if the top is colonized, I've birthed jars early a few times and had this happen.

I don't think RR will be commenting here
As for my opinion its a neat idea, but you ever have issues with the metabolites eating through the top foil? That could contam the whole works. Also while a novel approach i don't see this as being much more than that. There are easier ways to inoculate with live culture that will be far faster.
