    #21569302 - 04/19/15 07:05 PM (9 years, 1 month ago)

Also Inoculated 8 jars 7days ago and only 3 show any signs of growth.

followed the pf tek using a syringe from a sponsor and they're kept 73*F any clue why only 3 of 8 have signs?

Looks like normal growth although it's odd it's starting at the bottom. Just give the others some more time. 7 days doesn't mean they're bad.

The picture doesn't show it well but it has more of a starburst grow pattern to it while the other 2 show 0 star burst patterns

Star burst pattern? What?
Spores grow sporadically when you use them as an inoculant.
Its fine.

You know if it was cobweb the whole jar would be colonized in 12-24 hours from first sign of growth.. they're fine and look pretty rizmorphic. Give the other jars time

I've had molds that look just like cobweb, but grew very slowly. Just sayin'.

Interesting. Was it fire fang? Because I've had trays I thought were contaminated with cobweb but it turned out to be firefang and the mushies tore through it. I've never seen a slow cobweb. I'd love it to be slow but it always rips through everything making me having to toss it :'(

The mold in question was in grain spawn. I don't know what it was, I'm just saying it "looked" like cobweb. There are a lot of molds that have lookalikes, but behave differently. Hell, maybe it was lazy cobweb, I have no clue.

Firefang is really cool, btw. Wish I worked with poo more often.

When you have horses it just makes sense to get good with manure. If I lived in the city I'd probably do coir but out here where the manures free.. I just go wild with the stuff. Also live in a dry climate so endless dry field aged poo all around the entire pastures. Honestly interested in trying coir 1 day if I get around to it.

The firefang was cool and it wasn't going over the mycelium like cobweb does and was a little more white and less wispy so I decided to let it keep colonizing. The trays with the firefang colonized quick as hell. Actually manure does lots of things that makes me think it's contaminated and it just gets torn through. Saw little green dots on the manure and wanted to throw it out but they weren't expanding on the mycelium with a powder white like trich and the mycelium ate it up too lol. Manure is such a treat to work with, very interesting for the typical mycologist.

I've seen grey molds too actually and I got no idea what they are lol

I've had similar experiences with manures. Very interesting indeed.

Okay so 15 days now since inoculation and still only 3/8 show signs of growth.

The other 5 have 0 signs of anything in them so at this point should they just be pitched? Also what could of been the cause for 5 of the 8 showing 0 signs of anything after 15 days?

I wait 2 months before tossing jars cause I've had one that showed signs after 47 days of waiting. Spores can be stubborn :P

Give them some more time, spore germination can take a long time.

In the meantime, start some new jars and projects. It helps having many things going at once, to help with your patience and the inevitable heart break when a project fails.
