Two questions
    #21598009 - 04/26/15 05:39 AM (9 years, 24 days ago)

I've been thinking about starting some random agaricus bisporus patches around my neighborhood for anyone to enjoy just because why not. But when I saw the prices for spores including shipping I just dropped my jaw. To pay around 20$ for something that could literally floating around in the air.. It just seemed way too much.

So the question is anyone knows where to get agaricus bisporus spores as cheap as possible for europe?

And on the other note could you raise boletus edulis myc on agar? I know it won't fruit cause it needs trees (don't know whats the word for it in english) I just want the mycelium.

So thanks in advance

Go to shop and buy button mushroom for 1-2€, voila. If you have more knowledge and tools, you should clone that mushroom, but you can always take a print from it. Making patches around will not be successful without a good plan. Do you plan to dig a hole, mix manure with spawn?

Yes, you can clone b. edulis, you could even inoculate roots of certain trees, but it would take years I think before you could see fruits. Google around for more information

Well I feel stupid now. The solution is so freaking simple.. The only thing I learnt from working with agar it is how easy it is to get contams so I was kinda reluctant to try it. It seems so much fun tough. I wanted to try out the antibiotic agar for the first time but then again it costs a lot.

I heard that the store bought mushrooms almost don't drop spores due to scale of growing. If they would the workers there would have health problems.

Yes I wanted to dig a small hole then crumble the cake into the hole and add some horse manure. I live in the countryside so I would put one in a forest one on a pasture and one in my garden just to see what would work best then make many more patches just for the fun of it.

Oh years? Sorry to hear that. It seems much clearer now why that mushroom is so appreciated.
