Don't worry, no one answers my question either...and from what i can see, i don't think anything except a mycological dictionary stands any chance of giving you the info you want. It is a good question tho.

I can tell you that a lot of the names are like tomato; either way you say it is correct. there have been numerous discussions about this subject with no clear answers. hell, even the pronunciation of "psilocybe" is hotly debated. my best effort is to use the "proper" latin phonetics i learned in HS.

the psilocybe pronunciation sounds bizarre to me. I always thought it was just the it sounds, sil-oh-sibe.
