habitat: Growing in short grass mix d with tree bark and tree litter. Moderately damp. In Melbourne around where kangaroos are living.
Gills: brown with dark purple/ blue patches.
Stem: thick/ medium stem. Blue/ purple/ green when pinched. Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.
Cap: gold cap with a darker more brown middle
Spore print color: brown with purple hue
Bruising: blue, purple
Other information: scent is very familiar and smells exactly like the other magic mushrooms I've had. Not sure if other types of mushrooms smell the same? http:/ [url=http://files.shroomery.org/files/15-17/991428725-1429914134434.jpg][image]

Really? Thanks! I wasn't sure cause I found a lot of them and thought it was too good to be true. Last time I found them in a different spot and they were more brown and the middle was a really dark brown. Why is that? Does the appearance change even within the species?
I'm more use to them looking like this.

Their appearance can vary. Make sure not to smush them down when taking a spore print. Just lightly place the caps on a piece of paper or foil and wait a few hours. An overturned glass or bowl can help get a good print, too.

Thanks! Great help! Will go back to my patch and get the mature ones! Pinch off correct? To not damage the patch?

I usually use a knife or scissors and cut them at the base when I pick mushrooms.

Do I do a spore print for every mushroom? even if they grow together tightly and look the same?

It's never a bad idea to take a spore print, but as you become more familiar with them you'll find that you don't really need to for a positive ID. Pay close attention to the colors of the gills, stem and caps as well as the bruising reaction and the smell.
