Similar mushroms that I have been finding. I live near a redwood forest myself, just down the coast from you.

I would check some other habitats as I have noticed that we dont get much in the way of edibles through the redwoods. Look for some oak forests.

the humboldty area is great for exactly that reason. it is nicely interspersed wit redwood, pine, oak, na dseveral other hardwoods.

wooki: you are verry lucky to live in such an area
it is beautiful, and my favorite place to camp in the state.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

be wary if you go to any of the more popular or well known spots. the police are well aware of some of them, and keep them watched.
there have been a few arrests already this season, and i'd hate to hear of another.
