hey i just picked these Weilii's in the ATL and they have some blackish spots on the cap where it looks like it's dried up or rotten. Can I cut off the black parts and still eat 'em? The ones on the right side of the photo are the ones I'm talkin about. They were still alive when i picked 'em but as you can see half or parts of the cap is black and shriveled.
Look for worms...maggots probally in the gills. Those are definite signs of spoiled shrooms. Also when you pick them up do they loose there structural integrity? <<<another sign of rot. I usually just throw all my "questionalbe" (not questionably poisonous of course) in a pot and malke a brew with the possible rotten ones. Rotten shrooms can get you a little ill but not kill ya. The tea solution I dont think is proven by science but makes sense to me (kills bacteria and preserves traces of psilocybin???maybe) and.... I have never been sick.
