Recasing a cake
    #2158719 - 12/04/03 06:12 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

Hello All

I was wondering if it is possible to case a full colonized cake that had already gone into the terrarium. See the problem is its not fruiting very well, only some small pins that are growing very slow. So can I pick off the mushrooms and case this cake? Thanks.

I did not dunk but I'm thinkin about doing it. Humidity is high, near 100%. Temp. stays around 68-70 F. I can't think of why its not fruiting that well. It's got like 2 lumps of shrooms that suck. They're both like a cm in size and haven't been growing much. I have 3 other jars still colonizing. When those are finished could I throw them together in a casing?

Ok, first how slow is slow?  I've seen cakes take up to a week to start pinnning.  I would highly recommend dunking your cakes!

I would also master fruiting cakes first, before moving on to casing's

yea thanks, but i've done this before and have been very successful. And I said they did pin but they were sucky pins. It's been 9 days inside the terrarium. I give it fresh air twice a day.

Air Exchange,  unless you have automated air-exchange, i would fan more like 4-5 time a day!

Uhm...your highest temp is 70? That's going to be slow. Shrooms grow relatively quickly at 78. At 65 to 70 they don't grow fast. Get a heating setup.
