whats wrong? lots of bruising, splitting from cake? PICTURES ADDED

Info: three cakes. Consolidated for a week, birthed 10 days ago, sgfc 1/4" holes all 6 sides, elevated and away from walls at least 6", 4" of course (#4) perlite added yesterday (it was miracle grow), 5000k cfl ~2-3 inches away from sgfc added yesterday (was using indirect window light), misting 3 times a day (8am,2-4pm,8pm) with fanning between all but the morning and afternoon.
all three cakes are bruised along the sides (not the middle of the tops or the nottom half inch), the first pin was growing but then started looking all shredded, bruised, and looks torn from the basecake. i thought they might be dry so i added wet verm to their tops until i could buy new perlite. When i changed to the new Perlite the tiny cap opened up. The other pins look like their aborts too. I have one healthy pin but this morning looks like it's bruising too. What's going on?
are they dry? They dont seem to be wet very long. should i always mist when there doesnt appear to have any water drops on them?
My Set Up:

Bruising like this on all three cakes:
Shredded/Bruised/Split from cake Pin:
Second pins that look weird:
New good pins:

Added pictures. I think the new perlite/light bulb helped since they look a little better but they still don't look great..
(edit) I took these pictures after work so I haven't misted them yet. This is what a dry cake looks like, right?

Am I supposed to be misting every time I don't see water on them because that would be like every two-four hours..

No... But your cake should be glistening. Your cake is drying out faster than your replenishing the water content via mist.
Did you dunk and roll?
I ask, because i dont see verm on the sides of your cake. Only on the tops..

Yeah, dunked for about 18hours and rolled. I don't think it stuck very well. I added wet verm to the top thinking that maybe they were bruising from being too dry but I wasn't sure. Plus that weird pin was freaking me out so I had to ask.

Can you reuse perlite ? Once its all dry can you re rinse and use in a clean sgfc ? And after rinse and loading perlite into a sgfc how long does it usually give off moisture before drying ?

I don't know my RH because everything I see says that humidity gauges are crap so I never got one.
I'm just fanning with the lid. My apartment is super small so maybe the air moving around in the room next to it was effecting it? I've been keeping the bedroom door shut (or ajar) the last few days though.
You said they should be glistening but the pictures were taking before I misted. They shouldnt glisten all the time right?

Your perlite may not be at its prime.. I suggest resoaking. It seems your low humidity is the cause of your "dry out" Your cakes shouldn't be in need of mistings every 3 hrs. Speaking of perlite, Whats the depth of your perlite?
Also, redunk your cakes for 45mins, dont roll them in verm though. (18hrs is too MF'n longgg, JEEEZZZZZZ)
I suggest getting a fan going in the room, your A/C isnt sufficient enough FAE. You need to invest in a small fan,
I do all my fruiting. Sterilizing, spawning, & agar SAB work in the same closet, using a small portable stove. (My gf doesn't condone) But i still have a 20" fan blowing on low. I just unplug it when I begin sterile work.

Just put the FC over the sink and spray the perlite until water drips from the bottom. Or do it wherever. Just get it good and wet. If you have a big enough tote, you can just emerse the FC in water in that. Let sit for 20 mins or so and drain.
Mist your cakes as often as required. Mist until glistening with water. One the surface moisture evaporates, mist them again. Do this as often as required.
The top and side of the perlite dry faster than the inner parts. Most people don't need to re-soak the perlite until after the grow is done. Over-spray from misting the cakes help replenish some of the lost perlite moisture too. You can give the perlite some extra misting if you want.

I suggest getting a fan going in the room, your A/C isnt sufficient enough FAE. You need to invest in a small fan,OP, do not listen to this advice. A fan or too much air movement disrupts the natural flow of water vapor in a SGFC and causes your perlite to dry faster and creates too much FAE and causes your cakes to dry faster.

If my humidity is low, wouldn't putting a fan in the room just lower it even more?
I'm sure my perlite is fine now. I had Miracle Grow perlite until yesterday when I switched it out for a much more course perlite.
I think my problem is that the teks say to mist only a few times and I apparently need to do it a lot more than that.

Letmesee said: If my humidity is low, wouldn't putting a fan in the room just lower it even more?Yes. That's correct a vast majority of the time. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be correct, but I'm sure there's an example out there somewhere.
I'm sure my perlite is fine now. I had Miracle Grow perlite until yesterday when I switched it out for a much more course perlite. I prefer the larger perlite, personally. It doesn't hold as much water and has over-all less surface area for evaporation, but the larger stuff doesn't cover the holes as much and it seems to allow better air-flow. I haven't done any real tests of this, it just seems my cakes don't dry as fast.
I think my problem is that the teks say to mist only a few times and I apparently need to do it a lot more than that.3-6 mistings a day is normal for most people, but you really have to go by how your cakes look. Your cakes dictate your misting schedule.

It's kinda hard to juge from the pic, but your sgfc holes seem a bit big that could explain your drying problem (if that's the case)

Okay, so I started misting more and everything sort of improved. I got 4 dry grams out of three horribly performing cakes. Then after the dunk they got VERY bruised. They looked like the shroomerys background. Dark dark blue, lighter blue, some white. I tossed them after a few days. I didn't feel comfortable keeping them around.
I have one cake going on its own. I birthed it after the help above but now it's starting to get heavy bruising too. I'm not touching it, I'm misting every two hours now, added more perlite, moved it to a less high traffic area. It's got a ton of pins on it, more than the last three cakes combined so I'm doing something right (or better) but what am I doing wrong?

Don't throw cakes just because they're badly bruised, i won't say it's good for their health, but they're perfectly fine once hydrated again
