Help me brainstorm birthday gift ideas?

The person I'm buying for is a tripster, hardcore grateful dead fan, interested in electronics.
They also got an ipad recently, so maybe there's some sort of accessory for that I could get.
I'm kinda leaning towards this, but it just seems like a book you'd flip through once and then never touch again. http://www.dead.net/store/home/d-cor/grateful-dead-scrapbook-deluxe-edition-book

Arduino?
now there is an original idea. I think you won the thread
I kinda wanted an arduino for myself a couple months ago. Still don't fully understand what they are, need to research I suppose.
I'm hoping this won't be too simple for him. He is an electrician.

Simple doesn't always mean bad. They can be used to do a lot of different shit, it's like electronic legos for adults. Pretty much whatever you can dream up you can do.

right on. thanks a bunch senor.
The only thing I'm stuck on now is which one to get him. There's so much different hardware thats not very well explained. Especially the differences between different boards. or what the boards actually do
This one looks like the best deal. http://www.amazon.com/Arduino-Ultimate-Starter-page-Instruction/dp/B00BT0NDB8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1429724502&sr=8-2&keywords=the+arduino+starter+kit

I only have a basic understanding of them, I was researching them a while back for a project I was thinking about doing. But in my research I found out just how versatile they are. You can do everything from making clocks and robots to building electric vehicles sorta like Segways. There's all kinds of stuff you can add on to the board to accomplish what you want to do with it. The only limit really is your own imagination (and bank account ). I've even seen them used to make home security systems with text-able remote door locks.
I'd say that would be a good starting place.

it's not posters to hang up. it's an art book.

Shapeways.com is a 3d printer shop. People create all kinds of cool things with 3d printers. If he's a tripster, maybe he'd like some crazy looking fractal desktop art? I feel like hold this in your hands while tripping would be cool.

How about some Grateful Dead 50th Anniversy blotter prints? They could be blank of course.
Of if are a really good friend, get a active sheet
Or how about some nice, Grateful Dead-themed headphones for music listening

My sisters BDAY is coming up too. Got to get her something and put it in the mail by this weekend. She always gets me something nice, usually clothes. It's much harder for me to shop for her because I don't know what she'd like.

Glad someone else thought it was cool
There's many other types of trippy, geomeric art, too . It'd be cool to have 3 different pieces, each with their own unique aesthetic and just stare at em while tripping balls. I don't own any right now, but in the future I'll buy a few and put next to my music set up or home media set up.
