Found these tonight in the semi dark. Fairly dry so not expecting anything from trying to bruise them. Look like the right shape for subs but wrong colour? Or?

Spoonicus, you have Psilocybe subaeruginosa.
Bigfatsirion, you have Inocybe and they are toxic.

Found myself a new patch. Not sure if it's going to be super fruitful but the amount of mulch there means that it certainly will provide over the next few years methinks!
Probably making a mission tomorrow to lands far away for a search.
All this rain and the low temps are going to make this week a good one!

I'm Super pumped! Going to be my first season of sub hunting : I've spent the last several days sussing out google maps for potential search areas! Not 100% sure where in my local area is worth looking.

Woah! I didn't realise you could get them so close to the coast! I thought they'd be issues with salt.

Fuck yeah the rain! Oh man it's really coming down!
I checked my patch over a week ago and there was a few inactives popping up but I know this rain is gunna kick off the subs for sure. Overnight temps are down to just over 10*C now too.

hey guys,
completely new to hunting subs but I have been doing a lot a research and reading a lot of books over the past 2-3 months. I've been reading the threads for the NSW seasons from 2012 through to this year to gather as much information as possible. I haven't travelled far from Sydney before to hunt for subs but with all the rain, even I'm jumping up and down! Im thinking of heading out to the blue mountains and pretty much just trekking it around through the forest. I'm gonna use the habit pics as guides!
Wish me luck and I hope everyone has an awesome season!

Best of luck mate, they're around you've just got to put in a bit of groundwork and don't be disheartened if you don't find any. Took me about 2 years of failing to find some. Just be persistent mate

quick question. I read somewhere on this forum that councils re-mulch known sub spots in public areas, and i have noticed some large piles of mulch around spots where covering up subs is the only reasonable explanation. Does this completely kill the spots, is there anything way to make these spots flush despite being mulched over with woodchip?
One spot i noticed that had be mulched over again had some pins sprouting today, which gives me hope that council efforts will do little.
tldr; Are sub patches destroyed if councils throw a new layer over them ?

In theory it shouldn't effect the mycelium, it will already have a strong foundation and may just take a bit more time to colonise the above material before being able to fruit. That's my guess anyway, biggest issue would be if the woodchips have been sprayed or treated thus making the shrooms contain toxins
