What humidity for BRF cakes? Does fine perlite work?

I've looked everywhere but I can't get any coarse perlite. Canadian Tire, Walmart, Home Depot don't have any and all the online stores only ship to the US. I've seen RR say that fine perlite won't keep the air humid enough or allow air flow, is this true? Is there anything I can do to make fine perlite work better?
I have a hydrometer, what should the fruiting chamber be at?

It's hygrometer, not hydrometer. The correct humidity would be 95-100%, as far as I know fine perlite won't cut it for a SGFC. Keep looking around for some courser stuff and hit up the other Canadians on here eh.

I bought fine once and put it through a strainer and kept the bigger parts.
Is Amazon not an option for you in Canada?

I really don't want to pay $50 for shipping a $30 bag of perlite, that's what it costs to ship from the US.

The one result on Amazon.ca when you search for perlite.
I live in Hamilton if anyone has a suggested store

Ive used all sorts of different sizes of pearlite.. they all worked the same for myself but I dont have holes at the bottom of my bin . If you do, thats the only problem I can see as it would fall through.

If you have no holes in the bottom of your bin, it is pointless to have perlite in it.
Air is supposed to pass up thru the perlite, wicking moisture into the chamber.....

Trust me, I cultivate and get the correct amount of humidity just fine using a different method. Ive been growing long enough to know what works , there's also more than one way to make a shotgun. RR`s way isnt the ONLY WAY. Pearlite releases humidity just fine without holes underneath... Im not disputing his way im just saying this isnt a one way works and the rest wont cenario.

He did engineer the SGFC himself.....but if you say so......you're the pro here......

It's perlite, not pearlite, and yes, perlite works ok without holes in the bottom, but with holes it would work much better.
Not to mention a SGFC without holes in the bottom is not a SGFC, it is something else.....A SGFC needs those holes to function properly....just sayin....

And just for reference, there is no "correct amount of humidity"...you want a constant fluctuation of RH so there is constant evaporation happening....
