Wet Spots on jars, some areas not colonizing. (PF Tek)
    #21574302 - 04/21/15 04:16 AM (9 years, 30 days ago)

Hey everyone!

Doing my first grow right now and it's turning out to be quite the experience. Initially, when putting the substrate in the jars, I've found that it was far too moist and had a thick slimey consistency. Because of this, I simply dumped it back in the bowl and fixed it. When I dumped it back in, some of the substrate clinged to the edge of the jar and I figured it wouldn't be that big of a deal since it's nothing more than a watery patch. These have stayed on the jars the entire duration of my grow, and have recently started to get a little darker thanks to the Mycelium colonization. One of my jars looks beautiful (except for the spot), the others not so much - just colonizing slowly, I hope. There aren't any other visible contaminants that I'm aware of, just these spots, but I'm hoping it's nothing to worry about.

Another problem is on the heavily colonized jar, the Mycelium contraction left a little crevice that I haven't seen any progress in. The rest of the jar looks great, but this one little cave hasn't made much progress (Only been a few days, admittedly.)

Temperature was kept at 75-80 degrees constant. Started using the ceiling fan for extra airflow in the grow room yesterday, hoping that'll speed up the colonization, I've heard poor airflow is a main cause of halted mycelium growth.

I'll post some pictures and hopefully I can get some input on this. Thanks in advance!

Do you think it's just sticky compacted substrate?  Or do you feel there's something else,  bc i can't really tell. ..

Well, I'm pretty sure it's just substrate, but I don't know if having that excess water stuck to the jar could cause any potential problems. Sounds pretty silly, but better safe than sorry. The books I've read have given me some basic knowledge on cultivation as a whole  but this is the one thing that I'm just not certain about, I don't want it to affect the cake or anything.

Honestly they all look riddled with bacteria. There's a few spots of stuff that look like trich. If it were mine I'd toss those ones. The fact you are questioning them shows they aren't good lol
