Cakes getting more blue
    #21572122 - 04/20/15 02:50 PM (9 years, 30 days ago)

My cakes have been in the FC for two weeks exactly today and all that is happening is they keep getting more and more blue and there are no signs of growth whatsoever I have been misting usually at least three time a day and fanning 3-6 times a day, I would fan it more but I have a very busy schedule, have they just stalled?

Do you have a properly built SGFC?

From my knowledge yes I do, there is no precipitation buildup, and my hygrometer almost constantly reads 85%+

I know it should be 95%+ and the temperature of the room is usually 66°-68°

How often are you misting?
There's no set amount of times to mist. You mist when the cakes tell you they need to be misted.

It's not very constant, I usually have work and sometimes I can't for like 6-8 hours, but then there are other times that I do it every 3-4 hours

Are my shrooms stalling or not?

Don't fan that much maybe like 3 times a day for a short period. I use to fan a lot and my cakes got blue I think because they were drying out.

I've had blue cakes. Not necessarily bad. Just bruising of the mycelium.

I would think the blue is probably unrelated to any stalling if that's the case. But regardless, 2 weeks is a bit long.

Maybe hold off on misting as much. Change one of the constants.
