outdoor straw and manure bed. layer or mix? your experience

So i only have a couple attempts at outdoor beds. The first time i did a layer. I mixed grain spawn with chopped up hydrated straw and then kind of cased it on top with manure. The results were dissapointing but not horrible. The last time i just mixed a bunch of manure in with the straw and grain. The results seemed much better but that could of been many other factors such as better spawn. It was a different time of year. Etc
Reading alot of outdoor bed teks im seeing alot of people talk about layering. Whats some of your preferences?

It's best on the mycelium to layer. Mixing can be quicker though at the cost of mildly "over-handling" the mycelium creating a slightly longer recovery time as a result.
In my experience, it's easier to layer the spawn and sub materials when doing outdoor patches as opposed to mixing, and visa-versa. On indoor cultivation, it's found to be easier and less time consuming to mix. Choice is yours. Milage may vary.

For cubes I did straight poo. Worked great. Outdoor beds are easy, pests are the only thing I had issues with.I didn't ask. What type are you doing?

Ok. Yeah. I just used straight poo. No mixing with anything. Of course the more mycelium you put in there the larger the flush. That's been my experience and I am sticking with it. When and if you start trying other kinds I think that may change a bit. Pan cyans need a casing, layer even outdoors I think. Also I heard at first to put a layer of mycelium then a layer of poo, then another layer of mycelium an so forth about 5 times/layers. I never did this either, always dug a hole in the poo and mixed in the colonized grain. 1 layer, no fuss. It just worked again about a week ago with galandoi. Hope this helps.
