My 2 dehydrators were both full, so I took a gamble and left these other 2 tubs overnight... spores everywhere
At least it's a good problem to have.
tub 2- First flush

tub 1- 2nd flush

I think it's time to build a commercial size dehydrator
happy growin'!!

I pasteurized it in the tub it's in right now. with hot water. and a soap soak first. I didn't use lime, maybe I should have.
I can probably get a culture from someone state side so you don't have to fuck with sending it to a different country
or I'll clone one from the farmers market if it's fresh enough

Didnt know lime was required.. I mean its not like your using it as a casing.
You sure? I'm currently US bound.
Cloning from the farmers market sounds like alot of "clean-up"

the lime is for the straw pasteurization for use as a substrate. look up RR's straw tek.

47C is where your water bath should be. at 40C agar starts to solidify. it takes 85C to melt it again so make your water bath 45-47C but I prefer 47C. the plates still solidify very quickly.
hysteresis is the property of agar that makes it do that.

bodhisatta said: I like to cool my agar down to exactly 47C and these bottles have a nice thermal mass so you don't get clumps also 400ml always pours me 20-22 dishes. but pouring at the as little above threshold of the congealing as possible means your agar is cool as possible. this means less condensation and the condensation is easier to remove if any. and also your dishes are ready to use in the same SAB session. Some may recommend keeping your dishes around 5-7 days before using them to make sure they're clean but if you've been making clean dishes for a long time then fuck it. Make lots of plates or at least back up plates anyway so if something happens it hardly matters. I let them solidify up in less than 5-10 minutes usually if you don't make tall stacks. that's a good time to spend wiping down and unwrapping the dishes you're going to take transfers from or getting prints and inoculation loops ready etc..
and I just posted that in another thread a half hour ago
I use a water bath at work with these bottles to pour plates, but I don't have a water bath at home because that's a little silly for the size place I live in.
