Back Dots on bridgesii
    #21559252 - 04/17/15 11:00 AM (9 years, 1 month ago)

Help!,
Today I noticed a few groups of small black dots on my Bridgesii.
I tried to wipe them of with my finger and gently with my nail but they won't come off.

Does anyone know what the spots are and how to get rid of them/prevent them?

Looks like insect damage. Thrips/mites/aphid/stinkbug maybe?

Looks like something has pierced the skin and those are 'scabs' of sorts. I've heard people mention similar issues when shipping poorly wrapped cuttings, from the spines hitting the cutting next to it and causing damage.

The odd Black dot/spot is usually nothing to worry about and quite common. It will dry up and form a Brown scab in most instances. Nothing you can do about them and we don't have enough info to make an educated guess as to what's causing them. Sometimes there isn't a cause that can be pin pointed either. A picture would help, same with some plant history. How long have you had it? What season is it?

Thank you.

Go home bridgesii.

You're drunk.

I posted pictures in my initial post???

It is spring, I have had the plant for 1.5 years now( got it as a 12cm graft and is now about 30 cm ) I haven't noticed these dots last year. and they got out of hibernation 1.5 months ago, The cactus stands outside in a little greenhouse for 2 weeks now

Ha. Sorry about the picture thing. I have adblock and I obviously didn't disable it to view the nice pictures you did post.

By what you describe it's probably sun damage due to it not being acclimatised to strong sunlight. It's only been outdoors for 2 weeks after all, not enough time to toughen up. Spots similar to these do crop up from time to time on these plants and they don't usually spread further, just clear up and blemish the plant. The undamaged portion continues to grow unaffected.

Some info on how sun damage occurs:
