Find #1
Habitat: central Tx, grew in a crack in my back deck, came up as light rain came. not sure of type of wood in the deck.
Gills: yellowish to brown on the edge, honeycomb style gills
Stem: less the 1/4 inch in length, dark brown in color.
Cap: has a flat top with brown scales and light tan ring around the edge
Spore print color: 2 hours sitting on paper no sign of spore print.
Bruising: Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.
Other information: this mushroom is very dense and strong, i tried to separate the stem from cap and it was very strong.

Find #2
Habitat: Central Tx, This one was in my grass in some thick mulch leaves. it was raining at the time and temp is mid 70's
Gills: the gills appear to be white to light purple.
Stem: long stem about 2 1/2 inches, white in color looks light purple also.
Cap: the cap is very wavy, white/yellow purple and a dark spot right in the middle
Spore print: dark spores on white paper not sure its they are black or purple.
not much bruising on this one either.

Thanks again! Also this is a lot of FUN!! two days of just stumbling on shrooms and no 2 groups have been the same

first one is probably something along the lines of http://www.mushroomexpert.com/polyporus_brumalis.html
and the second had a dark print you say?
no idea on that one. i'm still really bad at grass mushrooms
oh yeah, you might want to try printing on foil or a glass plate (clear glass that is) so you can see faint white spores easier. they won't show up on printer paper for example. foil is handy if you want to save it for later.

The first one is Polyporus arcularius.
