Web extension?

I thought this would be a simple question but I have been searching all day and can't find the correct search terms apparently. I'm just looking for what the webbed growth underneath this mushroom (the middle one) is called and which species exhibit this.

I got as far as it is a basidiomycete but it got hard to get further without knowing the term for this extension. I know I've seen a .gif on this site of mushroom growing like this but of course can't find it in any of my frequented threads.

It's called an Indusium and species like Phallus indusiatus have one. Some ferns also share this feature.

I remember reading somewhere that the indusium may serve as a sort of ladder to increase the chances of insects on the forest floor to reach the stinky cap, thus utilizing insects, like beetles, as a vector for spreading spores...

Are the spores produced on the webs?

As far as I understand, the spores are not produced on the web, but on the cap, and within what is called the gleba... its the stinky secretion that attracts detritivores. Definitely cool fungi!
I think I read that somewhere else, but looks like wikipedia explains it well enough: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phallus_indusiatus

Ernst Haeckel is the name of the guy who drew that picture, he's more well know for is radiolaria. You should check out some more of his stuff sometime if you get the change, the symmetry and complexity of it all is very beautiful.

The indusium on Phallus indusiatus smells like rotten meat and the tip of the mushroom smells really sweet, almost nauseatingly so. The two smells together attract a large variety of flies to help spread the spores.
