First g2g monotub - skinnier fruits? (pics)
    #21548537 - 04/14/15 09:23 PM (9 years, 1 month ago)

My first grow involved a B+ MS syringe with wheat, spawned to coir.  I saved a couple jars from that initial batch to try some g2g action.  Things seemed to go along as expected, and I recently began fruiting the g2g monotub.  The tub and substrate setup were done using the same methods.  The lighting and FAE involved is about the same as well.

My question is in regards to some differences I'm seeing.  I'm seeing a fuller flush with this g2g tub, which is great, but the fruits seem a lot skinnier overall.  Is this expected when there's a denser flush, or g2g compared to ms syringe spawns?  They all seem to be growing straight so I think the tub is evenly lit, and is at least meeting the minimal required amount of air. Still, I'd like to make sure my levels don't need some improvement.  It kind of seems like there's more early maturing ones too.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

Here is what my first tub(ms syringe) looked like about 6 days in:

Here is my current(g2g) looks like at about 10 days in:

Those tubs look great.

It has to do with genetics, nothing to do with the G2G.

Loosen your top holes a bit for some more FAE. Other than that, :whathesaid:

The sub can only support so much growth which is why when you have a huge flush some are bound to abort, simply because they can't all be supported till full maturity. Sometimes you may get a smaller flush with larger fruits and other times you may get a large flush with smaller fruits. All seems to even out in the end for the most part tho.

Thanks for all the feedback and explanations.

I'm not doubting this, but it made me curious.  If the colonized grains used for g2g were from the original MS syringe, are both tubs all technically the same genetics?

Yea it doesnt really work like that.

If you want consistency you shoukd get into agar work, you need a clone or an isolate. Actually you should do it right now, you can snatch some clones to start working with!

At the very least use agar as innoculant, put a wedge to grain. You got lucky that your syringe was clean enough this time, but the best way to ensure clean spawn is to know you are working with a clean culture on agar.

You already are doing a great job with what you have, with agar in the mix who knows what you could grow!

You still have a lot of condensation droplets on your substrate surface.  Your growing fruit bodies will produce a lot of moisture also .....

so I would increase FAE which will help everything.  looking good MAN
