Shredded cakes and bulk consolidation
    #21546933 - 04/14/15 03:25 PM (9 years, 1 month ago)

I was wondering if anyone has noticed the same thing as me , I shredded up a bunch of brf cakes with cheese grater and spawned to bulk ratio 1:1 two days later the whole surface of the tub is white. Do you think this method results in less time consolidation or is it just a fluke genetic thing I'm seeing?

I have yet to do this but anything 1:1 will move pretty quick.

Yes I have some grain tubs going too at 1:1 and they are not moving as fast as the shredded cakes ! I usually wait ten or so days to fruit my grains but this almost looks ready after two days

the shredded cake is dispersed much better so it colonizes faster. and shredding a cake isnt as rough on mycelium as shaking a grain jar can be. so less recovery time

i still give it at least a week to eat but not uncommon to see it colonized in less

Why is a cheese grader preferred to a blender or something? Wouldn't the damage to the myc be roughly the same?

That sounds like a good idea using a cheese grader
