If you only PC'd for 45 minutes, then yes, I would do it again for 90.
You don't want FAE during colonization.

I know what you're talking about, you want GE not FAE. Condensation is normal in jars though, don't worry about it unless it's pooling at the bottom.

Looks ok to me. I'd just shake it up and get those black ones spread out, not that it probably matters.
The condensation at the top is normal, as long as you don't see it slushing around at the bottom.
Were those placed directly on the bottom of the pc? I don't understand why they blackened? Also, a splash of vinegar in your pc water will help keep the white stains from scorching your jars.

you can wipe the outside of your jars with vinegar and water mixed together and a paper towel to make them more clear too. but the only reason the grains burned was because the PC runs out of water. if you run out of water the temp can go above 212(boiling) or 250F(boiling at 15psi) and thus burn the grain. never let a pot go dry it's really bad for the metal.
I would make new grain, but don't throw away this grain try it the worst that happens is it works out. but you can use your plates for more jars if you handled your plates in a SAB with appropriate sterile technique they'll still be viable to inoculate more jars in a few days. or you can transfer some of the plate to new plates.

Is anyone up? I did these last night and let them cool over night in my PC, I just transferred them to my SAB but the condensation in some of them it is heavy. Another note was water from my PC leaked into a couple plates. I didn't use them just thought I'd share how they looked haha kind of like a help cup. Can I transfer my agar to agar plates with condensation in them or should I wait? I gently have them during upside down in my box. Should I leave the paper them on these or ditch them?

I'm still trying to figure out why you have your plates upside down.
Why is the agar all along the side of that one plate? I deffinetly wouldn't use that, you don't need much.
As far as the condensation, no big deal.

I just read people leave them upside down. That one with the shit on the side is where water seeped in during their time in the PC causing the agar mixture to increase. Of course I know you don't need that much and I didn't use it. I'm just now seeing the response.
I went ahead and transferred to 13 plates, (water, agar, light malt extract)
I had a sterile jar of rye in the cooker so I transferred to that as well
And here's some visible growth from my drop 2 days ago. (zoom)
Here's what's left of the plate I was using
I plan on getting more jars and rye in the morning I have another plate that's almost reached its edges so I wanted to transfer it before then. I guess all I can do now is wait.

What he said ^^ even though the myc is facing the glass you can Cleary see the myc extending out on to the grain. I have pieces of agar I've dropped and the myc completely took over the other side of the agar while growing out into the rye. So it really is irrelevant if it is facing the glass atm. Plus they'll all get a good shake at 30% which then it really won't matter where the agar ends up.

Hey thanks man, I just put another 5lbs of rye to soak. Those burnt rye jars I sat aside and knocked up with those supposedly spent syringes still have yet to show any contam or growth, period. So hopefully that's a good thing.

Here's an update: Jars from 4/15
Jar from 4/18 is starting to grow out:
Finally some success with agar, these were transferred 4/18 No contams so far
Today I'll be transferring a grown out plate to rye and making up some more agar.

I currently have 17 knocked up jars, of which were inoculated on separate dates. I also have 12 "agar/light malt extract/water" pasty plates. I have a chunk of agar from the last rye transfer that I'm hoping to transfer to more plates this evening. I went away for six days and wants to start by asking if these 6 jars of rye I pc'ed the day I left are still sterile and useable? I never removed the foil and theve just been sitting out with the rest of the jars.
Here's everything else 8days later.... Jars from 4/15 Before I shook
 Some nice rhizo
Myc ball of rye while shaking
 After shaking
Jar from 4/18, considering shaking it. What do you think?
 Jars from 4/21
Here's a couple plates, didn't photograph all of them. But here's what going on
As an experiment/ accident I stumbled on to these, I had knock med some of the agar that I made after transferring agar shards. The piece I dropped on each of them had been knock to the side, I then flicked the side if the plate over and over moving the agar transfer around the fresh agar here's what came of them. Let me remind you all these were made on 4/18.

Properly prepared grain jars can be good for weeks after sterilizing.
Longest I've personally waited was like 12 days or so, and they were fine. I'm sure they would have been fine if I let them go longer also. 6days is nothing to worry about.

yea, i prep grains ahead of time and store them for a week or two before using in general. best to use ASAP, but time constraints and what not make it hard to prep>PC>use. as far as the burnt grains, its not ideal, but i've had bags melt in PC after 3 hours, then just re PCd the same grains in new bags for another 1.5 hours. still works just fine. i would shake the jar from 4/18, but some people wait longer. i shake when growth is about 3" circle, and then again probably a week later. some people have strict views on shaking times, but in reality, if ur grain is sterilized well, and ur myc is healthy, its all good.

i would not try to reposition it. it can work, but its risky. leap off will just be a little slower.

Wondering if I should shake these today. They were knocked up 4/21, it's been almost 2 weeks. I think it's a little slower because I used a little more coffee when soaking then I did with the previous batch. Only because I was soaking more rye.

Here's the ones from 4/15 I shook, recovering nicely.
And the jar from 4/18 that I shook the next day. Starting to recover.
I plan to knock up 6 more jars tonight I got more rye in the soaker so I can prep another 5 for tomorrow.
What's the shelf life on agar, or the rules on it touching the walls?

I would wait on the shake. agar lasts two weeks longer than you think it did. The fridge helps to keep em better longer too up to 3-6months in there.

Yea I use new lids and rings each time.
That last plate was an agar transfer. It took a tumble and the agar I dropped to it tumbled around in there and I flicked the side till it was re centered. So in lame terms this is the result of shaking up your plates after dropping the agar. Here's two plates side by side. Both transferred 4/18
One shaken one not... I'm not suggesting shaking up agar but you can see how nuts it went after it took a tumble.
Ps. Sorry for shit quality photos.

All my weed comes in jars. I've acquired many rings over the years. New lids are a 1$ for 12 so for 10$ that's 120 lids. Most expensive part is the glass, good thing ounces come in quart size jars haha

Always shake after inoc (regardless of what the inoculant is) to help spread the inoc points. A grain jar only needs to be shaken twice in its lifetime

That looks like my contamed syringes from [Insert Shitty Vendor Here] Do. Can never get good growth. I assume you dropped from MS spore and just let those go?
They look like they're fighting a contam now. Time will tell but I would have transferred away at least once or twice until I clearly had good myc.

The plates I used were from a plate i got from a trade. I transferred the plate to 7 jars and 12 plates. No signs of contam so far. I just think it's from the agar i dropped tumbling around inside the pasty plate and breaking into smaller pieces causing the myc to grow out from several spots on the plate. I mean we can all sit here and debate contam or not but won't know until it starts to recover in the jar.

If a wedge moves around on agar before settling down in one spot you'll see weird growth patterns

So when do I shake these again? Jars from 4/15 and 4/18
Here's the jars from 4/21 starting to recover I shook them two days ago.
And here's the jars with the tiger drop... Only signs of growth so far is the myc recovering on the edge of a piece of agar.

Here's an update....
4/15: Few more days!
 4/18: Few more days!
 4/21: Considering shaking again
5/4 tiger drop: Let the plates recover both side and shook again today. Each plate resembled the the third photo when uncovering them while shaking.

What should my spawn to sub ratio be when making up a 44qt tub? I found some of these weatherized tubs, perfect for monotubes.

Hey so I was looking over jars from 4/21 and I came upon these spots that seem to be healthy myc bluing but only in tiny spot in 4 separate jars I don't want to jump the gun and toss them because I've read over several other people who experience something similar while there jars were recovering from a shake. I've even see RR saying "It's common for some strains to bruise blue after shaking the jar. It usually goes away after a few days"
Here's some shots of the culprits

So another update
4/15 Considering spawning the last 4 its been a month today...
 4/18
4/21 I'd call it time for a shake.
Tiger dropped jars from 10 days ago, no signs of contam yet. Considering shaking, only been shaken once.
Let's talk tubs, I did the water in qt jars to measure my sub depth at 3 inches it took 14qts. The tub is only 10.5' tall. Now I'm trying to figure out spawn sub ratio... Is it necessary to pasteurize my coir?
I've included a link to my last grow, http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/21061673/fpart/all/vc/1 I used the bucket tek and was working with mini monos. I lost 1 of 4 tubs to trich. So I'm trying to be precautious this time. I also used a shit liner last time causing everything to get top and bottom pins.
I have this for liner this time, hoping it gets the job done. There's no pesticides or harmful chemicals its just a role of fabric used for garden beds. Thought the UV block was a bonus plus its all they had at home depot.
My last tubs were very small so I'm trying to figure out measurements for my poly holes on the 44qt tubs at sub level and the size of the elevated holes as well.
Any and all advice, I got my ears and eyes open guys.

Is 4:10 a good ratio, or would 5:9 be better? All I'm trying to figure out at this point is spawn ratio I currently have 23 jars and aiming for 5 44qt tubs Which would be about 4.6qts spawn per tub. Now what ratio should I use to get 3" of spawn/sub Which I know takes 14qts of water to reach the 3"line Which brings me to trying to find the perfect spawn/sub ration for 14qts Would 4.5:9.5 or 4:10 or 5:9
How many actual qts are in a brick? Could I just do 4 or 5 to a brick to make everything easier?
Does my coir need anything special or am I good with a brick 2qts verm and the bucket tek?

Damn dude. A brick of coir expands to roughly 8 quarts and coir doesn't give a shit so use the bucket tek, which makes 10 quarts of substrate with the verm.

Use a 1:2 spawn to bulk ratio, and it never hurts to add gypsum to any substrate in all stages of the cultivation process, but to not add gypsum to every stage in the cultivation process isn't a deal breaker.

I'm not even going to blame this one on the weed last night. Try taking a mathematics for liberal arts students and see how your math skills are afterwards. It made me forget math in general. I know that a ratio is multiplied on both side by the same number to get the new ratio. I was just asking if 5:8 would be over kill. I don't have much space where I'm at

For my 66qt monos I use a 5:10 ratio. 5qt spawn to 10qt substrate. You are over thinking this. I threw 1qt of spawn into a mini mono with an unmeasured amount of sub and it's yielded me over 40g so far. I didn't use any ratios.

I got some coir mixed in a bucket, letting it cool til early morning Then I'm going to spawn. I had a 3 pack of coir and one of the bricks was about the size of two bricks so thatd what I hydrated. 4/15

4/18
I shook these 7 two and a half days ago, they seem to recovered nicely There is only one jar, top left row, the one with the least in it that had a slight yellow spot. Hoping it nothing was going to spawn it to a mini maybe add an extra qt of colonized rye.
So the plans a big brick of coir/verm combo to 5qt jars hopefully not overkill in a 44qt tub and then a mini with 2 qts and 1/4 brick.
My agar tiger drops are about 75% and along with the jars from 4/21 I'll post pics of those ones in the morning.

Really over thought everything. Anyways... I spawned 5qts to a big brick of coir and ended up exceeding my 3" mark.

Had to make up more coir for my mini and these two jars.

Haven't posted pics of 4/21 but they're still going strong. I'll post more when they're close to 100%
Here's my tiger drops as promised. Still no contam, so to those who doubted my plates I say "can't always judge a book by its cover"

My tigers are almost there
Here's 4/21, it's officially been a month. Sadly these are a little behind, but no doubt there only a week out.
 Here's the smaller (20qt) tub. (2qts rehydrated rye/ 1/3brickcoir / 1qt verm)(spawned 4/19)
the bigger (44qt)tub. (5qts rehydrated rye/brickcoir/ 2qts verm)(spawned 4/18) Colonizing considerable fast even though temps have been low around here.
What's the rules on reusing jar lids? "use them till they rust, just replace the poly" does that sounds about right? Just asking because these plates have been in the fridge for a couple weeks and have reached the sides, I'm looking to transfer and drop.
How many times can you agar to agar before genetics become weak and potency becomes an issue?

Update lots of pics Hoping someone will finally respond....? I have a couple concerns and have read around the forum but wasn't sure what to make of it still.
How do these tubs look?
20qt (5/19) Wondering what the yellow droplet is?

44qt (5/18) Wondering what the yellow droplets are?

Here are my tiger drops. There seems to be a single yellow droplet inside. Thought it may have been from the high humidity we've been experiencing lately or because most of the jars have been at 100% for the last couple days... Some post I seen call it "myc piss" idk need some help.

Colonization times have many factors like temp, spawn ratio, aggressiveness of the culture, etc. If it looks ready, fruit it. I'd probably just give it another day

These were taken tonight, everything seems to be knotting up nicely! Hoping they'll pin soon 5/19 (20qt)
 5/18 (44qt)
Ten or so days after spawning. I have another 44qt tub colonizing and two more prepped and ready for tomorrow!

Looks golden with that kind of colonization, fae conditions should also make the mycelium happy. Try taking a magnifying glass to it to see if you see tine mold spores in the black area or shell like texture.

So six days or so later and my tub has no pins and standing condensation on the sub, causing it to yellow in some spots. I believe my bottom holes were too tight because I have multiple spots of "reaching myc" so I've removed half the poly from each of the bottom holes on the bigger tub and have begun maully fanning to try to induce evaporation. Is there anything else I should be doing? Some of the Ariel myc is starting to blue at the tips, possible blueing "bruising"
sorry there not hd, just working with a phone camera. added pic of amount of polyfil i removed tub from 5/18

no complaint with my mini mono from 5/19 zoom in you can see the begining of pins on the last photo where the liner looks like its coming to a point... WHOOP!

While waiting for my other questions to get answered heres another... Can I leave my lid off in a window to expose the sub surface to sunlight? Allowing the condesation on the sub to evaporate without collecting on the roof of the tub. or would it not make that much of a difference? its only 70' in my house and i read that myc dies at temps over 90' so i think i could get away with it for an hour or so. I just feel my sub is super wet and lacking FAE, like i said before the sub has completely consumed my liner, I used some stuff that was uv resistant but had micro pore holes to allow water to get to the sub. thought it'd be tight but instead my over active myc ate my liner. I mean it hasn't taken over the entire liner but the sub and liner are now one!

20qt from 5/19 Bad choice in liner, I got did pins like a motherfucker.

No point in posting the other tub it still isn't doing anything. I'm going to spawn two tubs within the next couple days hopefully it does something by then. The other tub from 5/26 is at about 80% colonization. I may case that one...

When I have plates with water pooling I just pour them off in my SAB when I take the lids off to do transfers, nock, whatever I'm doing. A folded piece of paper towel under the foil helps reduce water getting in via steam while PC'ing...

Hey guys I harvested the little tub today! Sorry I don't have room for more pics. Just a canopy with a joint on it. The hellashish side pins Last but not least the fruits! Everything to the left of the black line was side pins. There were even side shrooms under the liner under everything else that had grown out. (63.5cracker dry) Sorry there's not more, I just ate an eight and will give a better update tomorrow. Hope everyone else has a wonderful night.

Uhhh...in your Sig? Genetics and poor conditions are probably why.
It doesn't help that your sub appears to be broken into many, many piecmes

Thanks man! FUCK THAT LINER It caused so many side pins then they grew intertwined with it. Then even after removing all the side and bottom realized there were still fruits in the sub under the liner.
Any suggestions on better liner?
Yea idk what's going on in that sig bro. Idk what to tell you.
Once I induce fruiting I SIT AND FORGET Harvest when about 80% of the caps have opened
Here's another example, I currently have a 44qt tub fruiting and forgot about it. Two days ago noticed some pinning, didn't bother to dial it in. Probably what caused the goofball sized pins. I've since then dialed it in again. Still not sure to pick them off or just let it go.
Ps- that liner caused a bazillion side pins on this tub too.

Here's what those golf ball sized pins turned into Harvested almost 1,600 wet grams today. So much had to run the dehydrate two separate times. Everything's still drying as of now.

I'll update tomorrow with more pics and info on the final tally. Btw I let that 20qt sit for 4 days before dunking, it's soaking now. Sticking it back into fruiting conditions in the morning.
Pps... My tub spawned on 5/25 is still not 100% colonized and there's Ariel myc everywhere.

It does look a bit funny give em the smell test. We all learn you're doing way better than most people do this far into cultivation.

The jars smell like healthy mushrooms. They've been in those jars since the beginning of April I feel like the myc just ate all the nutrients out of the rye and had just stalled. I mean every last grain is colonized on the inside so idk.
I lost a colonizing tub to trich yesterday. When I cleaned the tub it smelled so sour.
Idk what went wrong, my bucket that I prep my coir in May have had a contam idk.
Just incase I have to start over I got 25lbs of rye. Just don't know if my plates that are in the fridge are still good. I prepped more sub but idk if I should spawn those jars or not.
Anyways, here's yesterday's second flush from the 20qt tub

Ditched the liner after the first flush. Here's a couple days into the 44qts 2nd flush!

Still don't know about my agar or spawn haven't had time to get to them yet. Still haven't got any ops either. I'll update again later.
