but if you do want to case now is the time for it. The way I look at it is casings aren't gonna hurt anything but they can aid in better a better pinset so why not use them if you have the time and materials.

Okay great! I've read to let the casing get around 30% colonized before fruiting but have also read that's it's okay to fruit right away after casing. What produced best results for in your experience?

I would apply the casing wait 24 hrs, then fruit. The whole point of a casing layer really is to create a good microclimate for the mycelium underneath to fruit in and to hold some moisture. So if you let it colonize to much the purpose would be kind of defeated.

I would wait with casing until the substrate is 100% white. your casing material decides whether you should let it colonize a bit or fruit right away. CVG, just fruit right away and peat based casing let it colonize a bit. especially with aggressive cultures you should fruit right away with CVG!

wait till 100% colonization to add a casing layer. i went years and years without adding a casing to bulk tubs of cubes, I wish i had not!. The casing layer provides the correct conditions and micro climate on the service of the substrate to enhance and achieve a nice even pin set . I always add a casing layer!!!

Yes, wait until full colonization to case. I even usually have a couple pins showing when I late case anything. But you definately want it totally white. Knotting up is better yet.
