Always cut your liner after filling the tub. This way you don't pull it from the sub creating a microclimate for pins.

Hahahaha what is that thing??

Is that a little cubic box with a circular hole cut out of the top and saran wrap taped over it?

Weird offshoot of monotub design I guess?

His liner isn't that bad.  It doesn't make too much difference whether he cuts it before or just folds it up a little bit now.  If anything it helps keep water from dripping all down the sides under the liner.  I prefer mushrooms touching the liner to growing through the polyfill.

It is the bucket my WBS came in and decided to use as a mini mono. I've seen bucket teks that kick ass, so I figured why not. :headbanger: Caveat, I do have a few successful grows to 66qts under my belt, so I figure it would be easier to maintain. Four 1 1/4" holes, two near sub and two higher up. I put the syran wrap over after cutting out a hole, just for ease of viewing access. :tripping:

I agree. I just think I left a couple places too long, so I'll trim it up. I tend to get some of my best, and juiciest pinsets near the edges. I don't mind a little extra length to keep the moisture in. But do you think tape will hold inside once I fruit it - to hold up the liner?

I don't have any tape inside the tub with the liner except while spawning.  Once that's done I remove the tape and then trim the liner to a reasonable level.  If there was never much extra to begin with then just removing the tape would be fine I guess.  Anything sticky competes with the substrate sticking to the liner though.

I do use the tape that's covering the holes but I just rip/cut the liner off of that once I'm done mixing up the substrate.

Yup, that's what I've done in the past. No need to deviate. But do you put tape on the inside facing out? I did it vice versa. I never thought about if this would make a difference with increasing contams. Thanks for the advice. Definitely will be trimming it down once colonized.

I put the tap on the outside of the holes, sticky side facing inside the tub.  I use that sticky surface to hold the liner against it while spawning.  I don't think it is a contam issue and if it was, they would just stick to the tape probably anyway, so fuck it.  I have a few tubs with no liner with coir all over the walls and those do fine too.

Hah, I hate trying to rip the polyfil from my mature fruits..
The fruits seem to grow around the poly somehow, causing the poly to end up in the mushroom tissue..

That's exactly what happens, but I won't pretend to understand how.  It doesn't APPEAR at first glance that that would be possible since the mushroom is just moving in the direction of the poly, but sure enough, it consumes and grows around it like it doesn't even care.

I just tend to make the polyfil shorter on the inside yet still fit according to my needs. It can be annoying, without a doubt, that's why I just remove completely near harvest.

I've heard ez felt is a good route. Where do you get that supply at?

Craft stores. I started with 2 layers but everything was drying out so I bumped it up to 4 layers and it seems to be working better. I need to get a nice isolate and test poly vs ez felt in my conditions. Probably won't happen until next year though.

I will def get some and try it out for my future grows.

Update:

So because I live in a drier climate, should I case even though it's in a bucket/mono? I'm worried about the sub drying and not getting a high pinset, I've used this exact same strain from the same ms syringe before and got beautiful flushes in a more humid environment. I've been told to adjust the polyfil as I normally would for a mono, but should this suffice? Also does it look near 100% to you?

I'm going to give it a few more days to figure out if I should case or not, and allow to knot up.

If you're worried about it drying out or low humidity, then case it sure. It can't hurt at least.

I thought about it, but the moisture looks good and I will be around enough to mist as needed for most of the week, so I'm going to save some supplies. Just like to weigh my options. :levitate:

So it's been 8 days since I spawned. Should I let it continue to sit or fruit?

Up to you. It looks ready to fruit now or you can wait a few days and let it consolidate. Most people don't consolidate bulk, but I do PE. Seems to help them.

I think I'll wait a couple more days like suggested. When I fruited in the past, I always waited for knotting just to ensure it was prime time. Thanks! I'm spawning another tub today and then another some time next week. :headbanger:

And here are my new additions of KSSS was spawned to CVG in a the edibles tube, bowl, and 27qt mini mono:

Update:

Bucket of B+ in fruiting mode. I see a few knots so I know it's prime time.

And my 27qt mono of KSSS colonizing.

A bowl of KSSS.

And again my THC edibles container with some more... KSSS.

More to come. Will keep everyone posted.
