200 hours later...and also they're releasing 2 expansion packs later this year/early next year that are supposed to add at least another 40 hours of content. It's almost definitely gonna be heavily modded too once the toolkit for it is released

Yup. I'm banking on it.

I cracked out hard on skyrim because I was so long overdue for a proper RPG with that big of a world, but it was before I built my gaming PC so I played it on 360, therefore missing out on the massiiiivveee modding community.

Now that I have my gaming Pc built my 360 isnt even hooked up and hasnt been touched in over a year.  I have more steam games then I can ever play unless I go on house arrrest and somehow can never buy another new games for at least a year.  I'm reallllllly digging into witcher's dark ass world.  They did such a good job making it feel 'realistic' even with all the fantastic fantasy shit flying around and trying to eat you and shit.  The fact that its so dark and everthing has some morale issue, really makes it feel like how reality would actually be in that setting.

Fallout 4 as well for more soon to come RPG crack for me.  And I'm POSITIVE there will be a massssive modding community for it as well, extending the life of the game by a looooot.

Well, maybe it's better that I can't play The Witcher 3 right now. Last weeks of the last year of college. I would probably slack way too much, not getting shit done. As soon as I'm done though, I'm getting a DX 11 compatible gpu.

Put some money aside and got that sweet, sweet Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 750 Ti. This game is giving me the stiffies.

Hah. I just beat it the other night. Couldn't give an exact amount of time but it took me somewhere between 75 and 90 hours to finish it. I did the majority of sidequests (all the ones you can get from towns/notice boards + any I stumbled into whilst roaming..so...MAYBE all of them? Unsure). Worth every second of my time, and I'll likely be playing it again within the next few months. Can't wait to see what the modding community manages to come up with for it.

Cant wait to play it. I started playing this one then Mndfrzee said oh hell no mutha fucka go play #2.. so I am.. then I got bored and then stopped.. now I'm playing it again and it's fucking magnificent. Awkward combat but the story and range of choices and impact are incredible

Haha Propensity did the same thing when I initially told him about Witcher. This was before 3's release but he wound up playing it and couldn't force himself through the tutorial so he put it down and then picked up 3 a little after release when I was raving about how awesome it was. Shortly thereafter he became totally obsessed and wound up beating the game even faster than I did and then picking Witcher 2 back up and churning through that. He beat both Witcher 2 and 3 in the time it took me to beat 3. :ilold:

The combats only awkward at first when you're unused to it. I personally found it to be pretty smooth after the first couple hours of dealing with it, though fighting from horseback never gets less awkward...the whole cutting people in half with a single swing part negates that though.

Fucking game is crashing on me now when I try to fast travel back to Novigrad of Velen from Skellige. ARGH.  I saved right before the point where you and Yen finish the wereworlf garden and I guess it starts act 2?  Well I had read somewhere before I got the game that once you start act 2 you cant go back and do stuff in act 1 so I reloaded my save to right before I finished that, and now it crashes on fast travel. W T F.  I cant find shit for info on this specific issue either on the net.  People with other quests crashing at fast travel but not the same scenario as me.

argh.

you can't walk this or I would.  Skellige is so far away from the other area you HAVE to fast travel or take a boat.  Both cause crashes.  I think I might just have to say fuck it and move the chapter forward or something.  I dunno.

The Witcher 1 was terribly boring, and in which two was streamlined with button mashing and quick time events, and three will always be a mystery to me. Projekt Red has pushed largely on social media platforms as means of advertisement using the gimmick of no drm for marketing purposes. While I do think DRM is bullocks they are using this as an advertisement stance.

I dont remembre witcher 2 being nothing but button mashing and quicktime events.  I quite enjoyed 2, though it felt a little short and more linear then I normally like.  Both that they remedied with 3.

The Witcher 1 had an amazing story and the gameplay isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The Witcher 2 has an amazing story and nice gameplay. CD Projekt Red's refusal to use DRM deserves every bit of attention it gets, through social media or otherwise. In fact, Projekt Red deserves a lot more attention than it gets for a lot of stuff.

I stopped playing this game I got bored with it and I don't even know how far I am through I got to about level 20. What level are you guys at? I think I'm at least 1/2 way... Idk what it is I just get bored with video games even if they're really good. I kinda lost interest in the story and gameplay...

You cant really judge it by level because you can just ignore the main story almost right away and do nothing but side quests and treasure hunts and map discovery stuff and easily get into your mid 20's.  I was at level 23 when I finally went to skellege to look for Ciri.  Of course this is when I got TRAPPED there due to whatever bug their DLC caused.  I have since completely nuked the game and my saves and reinstalled the entire thing.  Hopefully they get that loading screen/fast travel bug worked out soon.
