Outdoor Fruiting - Thoughts on misting fan?
    #21528233 - 04/10/15 10:58 AM (9 years, 1 month ago)

Greetings All,

If all goes well - I will be producing 6-8 (~12-14lb) phoenix oyster sawdust blocks a week.  I plan on having them do their spawn runs indoors for 1-2 weeks then moving them outdoors (screened patio) for the first flush and subsequent rests and flushes.

I live in an area that will have warm weather and fairly high morning humidity for the next 6 months:

However, for the afternoon humidity drops to around 50-60%.  Would it be a good idea to have a misting fan on a timer (15 mins on, 45 minutes off?) that would oscillate over all (or most) of the blocks that will be on shelves?  the outdoor "fruiting chamber" will be in my screened patio that really only gets direct light in the first few morning hours.

I was thinking something like this would be suitable to try out for the first year:

Yes I know the reviews aren't great for this item - but assuming it lasts a season and if my production stays consistent, I'll buy a better one when it breaks.

Your thoughts?

Thanks!,

Bob

I think a misting fan is a great idea. It would cut down on the time you have to spend manually misting.
