I have some contaminated jars and I want to empty them and reuse them without brining contaminants back inside.
Should I just empty safely and place in the dishwasher?

Roger rabbit recommends boiling them for two hours them taking them outside before opening and emptying. I imagine rinsing with isopropyl before bringing them bAck inside is best. I just throw them away.

I just empty outside then wash with hot water & dish soap.
The 'safest' way would be to run them through a PC cycle first though..

If I don't catch them early I'll usually just toss them, but if it's only a small contam, I'll dump outside and wash ou with soap and water. Hard to find quart jars around here so I'm trying not to throw away the whole jar anymore.

This is a subject I'm very intimate with. I've delt with contaminated jars in many different ways throughout the years. Where I am with this today is...... Deal with contamination IMMEDIATELY! When you see the first signs of contamination toss the grain in the trash right there and then. It will be easy to wash with soapy water and move along. IF YOU WAIT for the jars to fully colonize with contamination... you're going to have to PC them and go through the trouble of getting that shit out of the jars and then rinse with soapy water to get them ready for the next batch. This may not be an issue if you've got 7 to 14 jars of contamination..... but when you've got in access of 50 jars that go bad because you got a contaminated print from a trade. So the moral of my story is that as soon as you KNOW your jar is contaminated...OPEN IT UP AND DUMP IT! START OVER. Don't ever wait for the jar to continue colonizing... It's a pain in the ass to handle contamination the right way without compromising your entire area with mold spores that will fuck with future grows and/or the health of those who are subjected to them.

I dump em outside wash them with the hose wipe em out. At that point they're just as clean as you are coming into your house.
