Would this work? BRF half pint cake to BRF substrate in quart jars?
    #21524728 - 04/09/15 03:43 PM (9 years, 1 month ago)

Would this work? I have One half pint cake that lagged behind the rest. Could I break this up to colonize 3 or 4 quart jars of the same substrate or will things go bad?

If the genetics are slow growing, maybe it's not a good idea to transfer to larger containers? Depends on how much time you have to spend I honestly. That, and how clean your work conditions are.

what would you define as slow growing? the only reason why the one did not grow as fast was because I ran out of spores in my syringe and only inoculated one port. And I would be taking all the normal sterile procedures in a large glovebox I made.

I'd say do it then. I don't think you even have to crumble the whole cake, just take a few tissue samples. I'd also wait for more replies as I've yet to do it myself.

Maybe? I'd think it would recover faster as well as crumble easier.
Just don't dunk it excessively. Maybe 6-8 hours.
In my head, a fully colonized cake is going to like a rippened fruit. I wonder if it'll squirt.
