What species of mushroom did I eat, and how do I avoid it
    #21515560 - 04/07/15 03:50 PM (9 years, 1 month ago)

Hello everyone! I'm new to the world of cultivating mushrooms and can not wait to start, but one thing has been holding me back and that is choosing a good mushroom spore. I'm very paranoid ill end up with a batch I had tried in the past.

I have no idea what strain or environment the cultivator used in order to provide these mushrooms to me, but I hope my description can get me some answers here from some experienced users.

All the mushrooms I had ever consumed were all white. Thin stems, small caps, and sometimes blue or blackish bruising. With 2 grams I experienced a feeling of well being, very vivid colors, breathing walls, wavy trees. With an 8th of similar batches I experienced a very difficult hike where I would visually see events repeat over and over. It was very unreal lol

Anyways this particular batch I picked up was different. They were all similar in size, small. But instead of white they were all brown. There was not any white in these, from what I remember they had darker brown caps and lighter brown stems. At first I was excited thinking I get to try a new strain, but after consuming them (with my girlfriend, both ate an 8th) the excitement went away.

I had consumed an 8th of these brown caps/stems and with in minutes started to get that familiar feeling in the back of my neck, the ache before the trip. After about an hour my body got heavy and I figured here we go. But nothing, just felt heavy and it was starting to get difficult to make sense of anything. After about 2 hours the heavy feeling increased and my mind began to slow down. I felt like my brain had literally shut off. Around 3 hours I knew this was not right, and was surprised that any form of mushrooms would even produce this type of effect. I had no visuals at all. I actually felt sober minus the very heavy body and not being able to think or make sense of anything. Me and my girlfriend sat on the couch together and stared at the TV. TV was boring, it was like watching images that you cant make sense of. When we tried to talk to each other, it was very difficult to make words. Almost slurred speech and impossible to create a sentence. Again, the whole time I felt sober and with it. Everything looked completely normal, and I could think fairly normal. Just words and actions were impossible.

When the effects started to ware off it was amazing, me and my girlfriend were literally almost in tears we were so happy it was over. It was like being trapped and not being able to do anything. This was after about 6 hours which also doesn't add up to the full length of a trip. Around 6 hours 30 minutes I looked at myself in the mirror (which is in my bedroom) and randomly awoke on the floor with a bloody gash in my head. Apparently I had blacked out, knocked everything off my desk, and landed head first on the corner of an original xbox (Which is was like a brick).

When I awoke I thought my girlfriend was having a bad trip because she was screaming, crying, and generally freaking out. I naturally was telling her to calm down and breath because your having a bad trip and everything is good and ok. Then I felt the blood dripping onto my face which I then saw on my hands after touching it. Thats when I realized what had happened and stopped my girl from calling the police.

Has anyone every tried mushrooms with a similar experience?

Does anyone know what could have been wrong with the strain/spore?

My biggest fear is cultivating mushrooms just like this, I really want to avoid any mushrooms like this.

My current plans = Mono tubs - pan cyans :sun:

I'd go with cubensis if I were you.

I doubt anybody will be able to answer your question, though.
I don't think one can grow shrooms a certain way and get certain effects.

Did they taste funny at all? Meaning, could they have been random mushrooms dipped in a liquid solution of another drug (a benzo, or other drug)?

Maybe you just had a bad trip?
How long had it been since your last?

Honestly they tasted fine, and that was probably two years ago. I've tripped a good amount of times and have a well understanding of it. It wasn't a bad trip because I have also experienced one lol which only made me mentally stronger.

But since then I've only used LSD. The cyans interest me due to how many people speak only good things of them

I've read other trip reports on this forum about people blacking out or collapsing while on psilocybe cyanescens (a species not inconsistent with your description, but there's not much to go on)

I figured there was no way in hell what I ate that night was Pan Cyans because everyone's description about the effects are way more visual rather than the body feeling. I figured the mushrooms I ate were cubes with little to none of the chemical that produces the visuals, but scientifically I don't know what I'm saying lol

Yeah if there were weak visuals they were probably just weak cubes.

He's talking Pan Cyans not Ps cyans but either one can put a good twistin on your head.

I meant Psilocybe Cyanescens, as in this thread:

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/3274456

However, reading around, and as you would expect, there are similar reports for other species.

No it seemed he was describing the batch he liked as pan cyans and the cubes were uncomfortable. I have noticed similiar differences in cubes grow from manure or grain
