How do I avoid mycelium buildup in syringe?
    #2150765 - 12/01/03 09:42 PM (20 years, 3 months ago)

I have this 1 syringe escecially. Its very black in the andmost of the spores have gathers into this tiny tornado of action. Is it still good. I think it is. How do I avoid these spores to stick together in the future? I personally have never had a problem with any of them. But to keep the people I trade with happy, I would like to know how to avoid this.
I boil filtered tap water in a pot that gets cleaned like mad. Fill my syringes once water is boiled, let them cool, drop a print into a steralized jar with lid. Just a little whole for me to get the needle thru. Spray in and suck out. Then I put them in new ziplock bags, and put them in my syinrge fridge.

Anyone see anything I'm doing wrong here?

spores naturally stick together like that... its usually just a sign of alot of spores. You should be fine, also thats not "mycelium" building up in the syringe, its just a large clump of spores.

Did this happen to other syringes from the same spores?

They all have kinda dun it, I wash the back of the peice of foil with a little alcohol. Same way I'm sure the everybody else does it. I personlly have never had a problem. But like I said, if there is a way to make it better, by all means tell me. Just wanna make peeps happy I trade with.

And yes, I do put the foil in the jar. i cut the print out of the foil with a sterile , scorthed scalpel blades, then take the tweezers(steralized), wipe the back of the foil, drop it in the jar and cap the jar.

Easy as that. Let me know if I am doing wrong?

Peace

If your spores do germinate while in suspension, put your syringes in the fridge and it will slow the "clumping" affect you are talking about. You really should be storing any kind of spores or spore solution in the fridge, it helps keep contaminants at bay and the material will stay stable a lot longer than if left to room temp.
