mycobag growth and future development
    #2149635 - 12/01/03 02:17 PM (20 years, 2 months ago)

my friend and I injected two mycobags exactly 2 weeks ago, he says he saw a small amount of mycelium growth on part of the bag. So we did what Cervantes suggested on a previous post and mashed up the substrate. It has only been a day since then but we have seen no growth. I am wondering what kind of timeline to expect as well as if it would be a good idea to case the two cakes as it is described to do in the easy casing tek after 2 or so flushes?

man, mycobags will test your patience, make sure the temps in the room is at 84-86 degrees F. I would reccomend to case the bags as soon as they are 100% colonized, if you want you can fruit them in the bags, but i recommend to case the cakes. Expect 100% colonization about a month from date of inoculation

hey, thanks for your help. I think i would rather start with the bag method cuz we are beginners and don't wanna screw this up. I was just wondering is it possible after the cakes are done with a couple flushes to case it then?

When you mash the bags, you mash all of the mycelia. It appears to vanish before your eyes... but it is being spread through the substrate. Be patient... you'll have much more myc very soon. If you mash a bag right, you can realy speed things up.

Make sure to mash your myc good. With more experience, you'll see disapearing myc is a normal part of the process.

After a couple of flushes, it would be better to dunk the cakes and fruit them as cakes. I hear casings prefer younger myc.

Good luck.
