whats the best strain for beginners?
    #2150116 - 12/01/03 07:30 PM (13 years, 11 days ago)

also,

whats the best tek?

do i really need a pressure cooker?

how do i know when its done?

thanks guys

nah, j/k. ive grown last winter. i was thinking about the faces you made when you read the title, and imagined them getting angrier with each question.

i got back from buying new supplies today and went check the mail as usual. with shopping bags still in hand, what do i find? 2 GC prints from dilleo27. (they were a trade, dont ask for free stuff) im getting back into the groove. its such a nice groove.

there is a point to this thread, im getting there

while browsing the flours, i came across various wheat flours. there was organic wheat graham flour and others that i cant remember. can this be used safely without a pc? i wont do the fractional sterilization shit. what exactly is it about grains versus brf that makes brf sterilizable in a pot? is it because grains are in whole seed form? clarification please

B+ is a very strong strain, golden teachers were the first I ever grew and it went great.

You should read every Tek you can and colaborate all the information.

You NEED a pressure cooker, it makes everything easier.

You will know when your done when the mushrooms start to grow.

READ THE FAQ!

Search.

Damn! Oh yes I made many a cringed faces upon reading the thread title. Well, to answer your real questions, I have used wheat flour myself and it does work, I don't know what the real differences are between them but I'm going to assume all should work the same.

In a pf-tek situation I understand that with that formulae it's less prone to contams then grains are, and thus easier to get away with without pcing. I think with whole grains it's harder to penetrate without a PC and you could miss some contam endospores. But in any case it's always better to PC, Pf-tek or grains. Hope this helps,

mycomancer

lol, yea, I had some dick on one of the other boards just delete my post without answering it "this has been answered a few times, i'm deleting it", gotta love that. As for strains i'm actually having problems with all 3 of my B+ jars, i dunno whats up....1 is contamed, 1 wont grow, and the other look like it might be on its way to growing contams...however my cambodians and africans are growing real real well along with my golden teachers, just innoculated some equadors and a mystery syringe so we'll have to see how those go. I used birdseed to do all the jars that are colonizing, took like 3 days before i saw anything.

Is there any real diffrence between BRF and Wheat Flour? I noticed that a 5lb bag of wheat is the same as a 2lb bag of BRF where I live, my friend was wondering if he could use it instead because it's cheaper?

yep, you can use wheat flour, just substitute it for the brf.

I would stick to the PF Tek strictly till you get a successful grow under your belt, but hey that's just IMO.
as far as strains go, my first success was with john allens and they rock. Very potent and beautiful.
best of luck and welcome to the forum.

WHAT?
Why don't you do some reading instead of posting right when
questions come to your mind. I find most of the answers to my
questions in the archive. Take a few minutes, and learn to use the
search function. You will be amazed at the information available.
Yes the search function is difficult to use but you?ll get the hang
of it quickly.

It?s quite annoying when people create a few threads a day
over standard questions...

Do some work, start here:
http://www.shroomery.org/faq.htm
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/search.php?

If you can't find the answer, THEN heck ask the question.

forget verm and flour first of all.

when my cat started growing he started immediatly with wild bird seed.

its 8$ for a 40lb bag at petsmart. gremlins soak it overnight, remove as many sunflower seeds as they can (sometimes they can harbor contams) then put them into either pint jars or quart jars, add 2 tablespoons of wet vermiculite to each jar. sterilize as normal.

if your aardvark is innoculating, colinization will be very fast compared to rice and verm in those 1/2 pint jars.

my cat just cased each fully colonized quart jar into 50/50 coir and verm and has had exceptional results.

i suggest having a look at "starter"'s posts. my cat took after him, and owes him all the credit.

my cat however, did use a different strain, although results were the same

Sorry back2growing but my post was directed towards sensi,
not at you.

I thought it was funny because sensi called someone a lamo when
they mentioned using the FAQ. I wonder if he knows where to find
the FAQ as he spits out new threads without doing any research.
