Old Grain Question
    #2149959 - 12/01/03 04:36 PM (20 years, 4 months ago)

I had some old rye grain in a bag (probably about a year old) that I recently tried to make some jars out of. I made about 24 quart jars, it's been about a month and none of them are doing very well. Is this because of the old grain or maybe something else? I wasn't sure if it was possible. Figured I would ask. I might try one more time before I buy some new grain.

They are rye berries, and I've had excellent results before. Kindof puzzled.

Old grain carries higher bacterial loads than fresh.
