I believe they can. I recall that there may have been a spore solution drinking trough experiment, though I certainly wouldn't be able to find where it was mentioned, because it was off topic in the thread it was in.

I think spores can survive through the cow's digestive tract mainly because I knew a farmer who fed his cows oranges specifically for the purpose of eliminating the mushrooms from growing from his cow shit which worked. I guess the oranges have some acidic property that kills spores. I don't know but I know that it worked.

Hmmmm. More acidic than a cow's stomach?
But on the other hand, if bacteria can survive through a digestive tract, spores probably could?

Makes sense to me. To be honest I have no personal experience with this topic and I'm assuming nobody in this thread does since nobody has sited facts on this specific topic(can spores survive the cow's digestive system?)

Have you seen how fast germination occurs? It seems a bit like it's already germinated when it hits the ground, and is recovering/colonizing from the start. They fruit fast as fuck after a rainstorm.
There's no real data on these questions because the subject matter isn't something people have bothered to research.
Until one of us actually needs to know I doubt it even matters whether it's hypothetical or not.
I want to feed a cow a bunch of APE spores and see where that takes us though. There'd be no mistaking that.

Well, if someone does this experiment I hope they get back to us on that.

Considering how dangerous spores are, I doubt anyone has ever tested it. Who would want to risk killing a cow by feeding it spores?

That would be cool as shit. I think that the spores survive through the digestive tract but dont actually germinate and start growing until thee turds been on the ground for a few days. Just my .02¢

So, have you lived in an area where cow shit regularly yields cubes to make that determination?

If it wasn't against the rules I'd post the PMs OP sent me.

Wow, good thing for the rules. That's mean. That's something I would do but still that's mean. Well, it's an invasion of someone's privacy.

I don't think spores can survive through a cows digestive tract. More than likely, cows take shits in the field and mushroom spores land on said shit, then grow.
I'm pretty sure RR or another TC posted about this once...something about how a cows stomach is different so the spores survive their digestion and are basically implanted in substrate with nutrients to grow in when the cow shits.

Yes. I live 20 minutes down a dirt road in Anderson. Literally everyone owns at least one cow lol. The guy next door has 200 head of cattle and I'm sure that I'm surrounded by about 1500 cows at any given time. Cubes and copes are abundant but sadly a lot of farmers use anti fungal and dewormer in their feed now.

Yeah they sure as hell do, it sucks. It's damn unnatural for a field FULL of cow shit not to have cubes eating it up.
