low price guitars?

hey where would i look for guitars at cheaper-than-dirt prices? Im specifically looking for an ibanez ar250, but dunno where to look. ive tried ebay for a while, and that seems the cheapest place, but the guitar is almost never sold! pfft..
ive seen it for 600 almost everywhere online, and checked out a local guitar center; i told him about the 600 and he said he'd give me a new one with tax 550, plus he'd throw in a gig bag. I really dont want to spend 500+ bucks on this guitar.. i have a shitty job ( ive finally gotten used to it though ) and have more needs than a guitar.. ( but i want it, badly. )
ive seen one sold on ebay for about 350 bucks, and wouldnt mind paying that much... but again, availability is a huge issue

Schecter is the way to go! They make excellent guitars. The guitar center near me is doing this thing where the intrest on the guitar center card doesn't begin until 2005. I just spent $700 (I'm fucking broke) on a gorgeous Schecter C-1 Classic (the one with the "vine of life" up the neck and string-through body design) - it was originally $1k.
Go with a cheaper Schecter - they have excellent sustain and (bell-tone) harmonics. They just fucking rock.
I was at a toss up between a Gibson SG and the Schecter. The Shecter won.
(the only SG I would buy now is about $1200 and ^)
I also have a nice ass Ibanez bass and Fender bassman tilting amp - I love the bass!!

HrmmRR
actually mostly im going for the ibanez ar250 because of a) shroomism vouching for the company b) i chose the 250 for its many great reviews, it seems like the experienced players liked it alot
i've never heard of schecter.. i will look into this.. mostly im looking for a deep sound w/ long sustain.. iuno- somehting that can do 60-70 classic rock and heavy metal pretty well
the ar250 seems like it can handle that and its sort of a jazz-guitar

No way!! I have a C-1 classic too. I have the antique amber finish.
A very cool guitar. The only complaints I had were that the pots and switch in it were shitty(I replaced them) and that the guitar is really bright(almost twangy). But, when it is amplified, you can hide the brightness by boosting the bass.
I am thinking about getting the Schecter Stilletto Studio 4 string bass. That fucker looks cool.
Schecter all the way!!

"fuck Ibanez, get a gibson les paul if you want classic. Or randy rhoads jackson." Eh, i doubt anyone would ever sell one of those for less than 500. and the randy rhoads, it looks like those do go for less than 500, but umm, i want the guitar to look kind of like a guitar too... looks like a lightnin bolt or sumptin
what are the plusses of a shecter?

Schecter makes high quality guitars for low-prices. Go to your local Guitar Center to test some out. In fact that is the best advice I could give you; try out a bunch of guitars and buy what SOUNDS(not LOOKS) the best.

Yeah sound is key, test everyone for the sound you want before you buy. IF you got an Epiphone Les Paul you may be surprised at some of the prices pretty low on some. The gibsons are fucking gold, so an Ep shouldn't be to bad. Your best bet is pawn shops and guitar shops nevermind the guitar center. I like guitar center but If I was going for prices and deals, I want to be able to talk to someone, ask them questions, not feel rushed and what not. Guitar Center is to corporate what I mean by that is it's like the Wal-Mart of guitar shops. All kinds of people everywhere, staff everywhere, jungle.

Depends on what you're going for. Gibsons are good, but generally, expensive, and not usually suited for playing metal. My band has played nothing but Ibanez for 6 years, so of course I am biased. The higher end Ibanez's are amazing, but the low end ones are also. In fact while the guitar players in our band have several very nice ones, the lead player is still playing his original AR250 from 10 years ago. I've seen it fall on its neck onto concrete more times than I can count.. it has been thrown across the room several times. Even with the cheap pickups and being worn and torn, it still sounds sweet after years of abuse. It's a cheap guitar, practically the bottom of the ibanez line, but he loves it, even though he has better ones. You can always upgrade the pickups and bridge later if you so desire. Just if you plan on soloing ever, go for 24 frets.
Schecters are good from what I've heard, but I don't have enough experience with them to say anything. Ibanez all the way.

Don't waste your money, please. Unless you're buying an expensive washburn, in which case you're better off getting an Ibanez btb, Modulus quantum, or Schecter. Washburn basses are cheaply built, made with inferior materials, and fall apart readily in my experience.

Once again, I must say that Shecter rules. I love playing hard music and clean stuff too. This guitar is perfect. They have a "tonepros" mechanism for PERFECT sustain! Go try some Shecters out at guitar center!
Gibsons = way too over-priced.
I checked out lower end Ibanez guitars - they are OK. Epiphones are also decent. NONE of them compared to the Shecters I played.
