Hey guys,
I'd like to get into medicinal and gourmet mushroom cultivation. I'm quite experienced with grains and monotub grows. Can most medicinal/gourmets be grown monotub style? can anyone recommend a good starter medicinal and gourmet strain and related tek?

Enoki, pioppino, king oyster, reishi. Reishi is easiest but longest, pioppino is also very easy, I haven't tried enoki yet. And we don't do teks for simple stuff here, we just do it.

Reishi is pretty quick depending on the species and/or strain.

Does a monotub setup work for most strains?

some. i had good luck with king oysters on pasteurized straw in bags but some people do sterilized sawdust in monotubs. you gotta colonize it in the autoclavable bags first, tho. reishi would do a monotub well. idk about enoki or pioppino. i'd start with reishi if you're familiar with tubs and wanting to do that. its pretty fool proof. sawdust will be your substrate. lipa has a fuel wood pellet "tek" for that

Yes, monotube works for all cultures I mentioned. You should pasteurize of course. I prefer using casing, it looks fancy and its additional layer of protection.
Golden enoki
Kings I would say that King oyster could be the hardest for monotube but I haven't tried yet.
And those are mine, pioppino.

edit: white enoki should work as well but I haven't seen any pictures I think
