in low level nutrient broth like a LC you may not smell it and it may not create any turbidity. but your efficiency may notice it.

The pic to the left is of APE. Hell yea brother thanks, about to take clones of a couple of specimens. About 80% of what you see in the A+ tub is in two big clusters had to clone some of that. Nice looking fruits you got there too is that MS?

but PC'd grains is never 100% sterile either as long as the mycelium can recover and pull off few flushes until the ph isn't adequate anymore i see no problem with having few bacterial rods in my lc! lol

bacteria stays isolated in grain, it grows in every single last drop of a LC. you can't pipette part of a LC and not see them in there. sure you can spread bacteria around in shaking or in spawning but it's usually the grain spaw guys who get better salvage flushes on bacterial grows than people who throw LC in the mix and end up bacterial.

we get about a 7-8 log reduction in grain in a normal PC run that's 99.99999-99.999999% reduction. say there's 100,000 bacteria per mL in a grain jar before sterilization. you reduce that by 7log say.
that's 1 surviving bacteria per mL.
if you achieved an 8 log reduction with your PC run and you assume 100,000 bacteria per mL in a grain jar before sterilization.
then you have 0 surviving but it doesn't work like that. in 100 jars you may have 10 surviving and of those 10 maybe one forms a colony that you inadvertently spread.
in a LC 1 surviving bacteria in a mL will just divide and you'll eventually have hundreds to millions of bacteria per mL depending on nutrition and conditions.

One beer we won’t be seeing again anytime soon is Peruvian Morning, the fantastic but star-crossed bourbon barrel coffee stout that was discontinued last spring after its second consecutive recall due to infection
http://host.madison.com/entertainment/dining/beer/beer-baron-central-waters-barrels-ahead-with-brewer-s-reserve/article_0df47e59-26b7-5813-a82d-9e6f2ecba4c8.html
visual signs are not always there, even with a lab department you might not catch an infection if its not bad, but boom later on it explodes on you. the beer got the stamp of approval from people that get paid to do this for a living, and trust me central waters isn't some fuck around place. LC is like beer. it's a bad thing to re-inoculate with. a LC is like making beer with beer. if you harvest yeast you wash it and clean it up to a pure culture. with a LC you don't have that option and with yeast you pitch a huge amount of yeast which overwhelms comparative organisms. fermentation is also anaerobic which fends off a lot of species that need aerobic conditions. injecting a jar with LC doesn't overwhelm any contamination you would have to saturate the whole jar.
all in all if you know what you're doing and don't inadvertently amplify contamination and thus amplify your chances of winning the contamination lottery then you'll be a much more successful cultivator
