I thought wood substrate was supposed to be sterilized?
Only if you supplement it with bran or something similar. Bacteria won't really grow on wood, so all you need is a good pasteurization to kill the trich and shit.

Depends on species. Reishi or oysters will tear through wood so fast it can be pasteurized and open air spawned with little issues. But try doing that with hericium and you run some real mold risk.

Master B+ (left) continues to demonstrate what I think is a somewhat exceptional growth rate for a MS. Very happy look'n mycelium. Inoculated from MSS on 3/11, shaken on 3/24 and now close to full colonization.
Eight B+ have got their shake on so far. Huatla has been a slow starter, some will be sacrificed for B+ G2G.

Thanks DD - it's a MudaFuka style bottle. Hay, straw, coir, verm, spent coffee, hpoo, gypsum, whole brown rice and wheat berries.
I nocc'd with grain spawn - WBS with the same MS KSSS in the mono tub I posted. G2G in the SAB, shook like hell, cased at 100% and fruited in a mono tub FC.

First go of a Moby Dick ready-to-grow kit. I know there are cheaper and more impressive ways, but I can legally buy these for 30 euros and basically just add water and put it in a bag.

Yield was 256g, supposedly I'll get between 3-5 flushes with the 2nd being the best

Hey man if it works, that's great - nice results for a grow kit for sure.
The genetics in this KSSS print I've got are still blowing my mind. These things are stupidly large.

Is it possible it went into shock? I shifted the myc when i moved the box. I'm hoping i didn't waste 100 bucks, Ill keep it around and see what happens. Is it possible to save the healthy mycelium, resterilize the compost, and try again? And if it does wind up producing, could it kill me?

honestly I have no idea what I am looking at. It certainly doesn't look like healthy cube mycelium. Might wanna try starting over and doing things differently. There are lots of great links in my sig with info about growing. There are also dozens of other great resources on here. Good luck.
That's is pretty weird looking. My cube Myc is always as white as snow. That looks brown
I am practicing with Bella mushrooms, I think it went into shock, I just checked, but it has white growing through it.

Often, all is rarely lost. Toss it outside, case and cover.
However, I'm not 100% sure Bellas can go that route.
Maybe an old hand or knowledgable person can chime in.
