Junk Emails Full of... something...
    #2133280 - 11/24/03 07:00 PM (20 years, 3 months ago)

(I don't suggest clicking that link, it showed up, I am trying to find a way to make it appear as it did in the email, i guess some of the HTML actually works)

Okay, I don't know how many of you have been receiving these messages. But I have been receiving junk mails from fucking anyomous places (ones that don't even give you an option to remove yourself from any list *gasp*). At first, I would just take a glimpse of them and see some HTML scripts and an address, so I just figured that it was suspossed to be a fucking HTML email with a link and the idiots fucked it up.

Well, my keyboardist also gets junk mail, but of a different nature. He was getting all of these messages that said just one thing but had a whole shit load of space around. He doesn't remember what made him do it, but he highlighted some of it, and found hidden text, text in white font.

Well, I just got a junk mail and decided to look at it a little more closely. Below is the message:

Here are some of the fragments I found, full words broken up by the gibberish. I also don't doubt that more statements are in there, seperated letter by letter, as you can find words in them as well.

What is the purpose of sending something like this? Who is sending it, exactly? Is it some sort of subliminal message thing? Fucking, I don't think barely anyone takes the time to look at these anyways.

This is the message that my friend got, just what is visible on a normal read:

Quote:

Hey this is Cutiegirl87. i seen your profile and your picture I think your really cute and seem like a real nice guy. I'd like to go out with you sometime. you can get my Aim and Email from the site.

It also has a link to find blind dates and one to unsuscribe.

Now, this is what it shows when the entire thing is highlighted:

Quote:

that my pretended miracles were only the result of skill, inspired

represented, and so to attain approximately to the knowledge of the ideas.
"Tell me the story of this brute," I replied.

Anyways, is anyone else getting these? Any clues to what the signifigance of these might be? It just seems odd, flipping odd...

Maybe we can use this thread to post em up when we get em, or something. *shrugs*
Peace.

Oh shit! The HTML ended up working.

What is the code to make HTML code appear as it is written, so you can see it as it was? Thanks.
Peace.

somthing about your post set off my firewall. Blocked access...

My best suggestion to you would be to never give your email address out. Also, NEVER click on junkmail, just delete it.
THEY are banking on the prospect that you will click it.

Every time you do, your computer sends out info to the sender/THEM that you have viewed the spam.
This is a flag for them to send more and more to you.
Dont ever open junkmail and dont give out your email address, and you will see a decrease in spam.

Oh and LOL at 'unsubscribe' links
they are really 'PLEASE SEND ME MORE SPAM! PLEEEAAAASEEEE!!!!!!' links...

Yeah, I just delete them. I just find it amazing that there is even secret shit hidden within them. Apparently my email browser doesn't allow HTML, and that is why it all showed up for me. *shrugs*

I'm not so parnoid tonight, either, by the way.
Peace.

There's some good advice here, so let me add some more good advice.
Stop using Outlook Express for your mail!
It's a favourite target for hackers for many reasons, so theres a lot of mal/crapware written for it.
I've used Pegasus Mail for a couple of years and it's great! Oh yes, and it's freeware too!

in a way it seems the computer spammer has gone insane and grown a consciousness... BUT, it also seems like it could be a device for avoiding spam blockers- it appears to be a message with no shit- they call it gibberish b/c it means nothing to them- maybe it's just a coverup for their damn link.. the one about the end of man is kinda freaky though
