what trees are these and are they suitable for growing shitake, reishi or turkey tails?

I just picked up these two logs by the road that have been cut 2 weeks ago. Can anyone identify them? There is many, many pieces like this in the bushes.

I'm not sure about the 1st pic but the others seem to be a type of cottonwood(poplar). They should both be suitable for growing provided they havent been laying around for a long time.

first one seems oak to me. Excellent for shiitake.

its hard to tell from just the bark but it looks like the branch nubs are coming off opposite each other. trees with opposite branching include ash, maple, and dogwood. the bark looks like maple to me.

I'd second the maple as well. The first piece looks like oak or ash to me...

If you are able to post a picture of any twigs or buds then the ID could be narrowed greatly
