Is that a casing layer? If not, you probably got another 7-10 days before I would fruit. And I wouldn't open the lid to check colonization too often, it can throw the co2 levels off

You could do it every hour and it would be fine. Removing a lid and even fanning for that matter don't equal fresh air exchange.

If its a casing layer you put on a fully colonized bulk substrate wait til about 30% then give her fruiting conditions

I don't believe taking a colonizing tub and fanning it every hour dispersing the co2 wouldn't have an effect. Just my opinion good sir.

The co2 level rises back pretty quickly. Constantly giving fresh air and maintained co2 levels below 600ppm are fruiting conditions; however even if you put a tub that's colonizing into fruiting prematurely it will still finish colonization before pinning.
Maybe you loled cus your experience is only from reading other people's posts

If you waited til full colonization before applying the casing cover, it's good to fruit, or let patch up a little more.
Haven't used casings in a while (humidity monitored and controlled fruiting environment), but when I did, used to just case, and immediately introduce into fruiting.

No, not really If I'm not experienced because I've only had cube grows thus far, then I guess so. I'm working on other things than cubes currently. Just because I don't have 11,000 posts doesn't mean I'm stupid. I already knew everything you just said, you could of simply said "the co2 levels return fast" and I would of said okay cool thanks I didn't know that.

I didn't know telling him to not constantly open his lid was bad info... Even if it has no effect on the co2 levels you're just watching paint dry. But thanks though!

It was fully colonized before i applied the casing. It was completely covered on top so i assume it looked good inside.
It only took six days to be completely covered on top, but i let is sit for almost a week before i applied the casing layer.
Ill let it spot up a little more then ill fruit in a couple days.
