Used white rice flour instead of brown

As the subject says. What can I expect from white flour rather than brown?
Some older posts say they will grow but with no potency? RR says potency is genetics related. This is ATL#7.

The use of a different substrate will not affect your potency significantly. White rice will work, but there are lots of nutrients missing in white rice opposed to brown rice, possibly resulting in lower yield

I know the only reason we have it in the kitchen is to make "clay" for the kids. Took the wrong bag out in my rush.
Only noticed I was using the white when I was cleaning up.
I got grains going in the PC, think Ill toss the BRFs out. I had extra space in the PC but no more prepped grain so decided to do a few BRFs.

its not bleached. the exterior bran is removed and then polished. it has less nutrients because of this, namely protein and nitrogen. most companies add vitamins (b complex) and iron to it, just like they would with white bread.

Also, PF cakes are a terrible way to grow sclerotia producers.

I wouldn't read into rr like he is the jesus of mushroom cultivation. Yes. Genetics play a part but psilocybin production is a secondary metabolism and is not crucial for the health or growth of hyphae or mushroom. From some of the research papers that I have been reading they have stated that in order for p. Cubensis to produce high levels of these phsychoactive alkaloids, sucrose which is a simple carbohydrate and the amino acid phenylalanine are of great importance.

Hmm, interesting.
When I grew some B+ on BRF cakes their potency was pathetic. I then took some of the myc from a BRF cake and put it onto agar and eventually used that to inoculate a few jars of WBS, coir & verm - the potency on that was faaaar better. Also I got some serious bruising, where I had none with the BRF cakes.

I would imagine white rice flour to work, albeit not provide as much nutrients. So yields might suffer a bit. Guess you will be finding out first hand!

i don't know what potency being genetic and not sub related has to do with RR being jesus

Only had two BRF cakes in the mix, one was a bit too wet lower down in the PC. Will post an update to this thread for:

I tried to use white rice once, the mycelium just colonized the top and never went any further, It ended up producing a pool of metabolites under it and sucking up all the water from the rice.
The rice was too starchy for the mycelium. Well wonder if this works at all :P
