glad to be along for the ride...good vibes & good luck. also big ups to the mckenna & rabbit reference...but "strain" should not the discerning factor you base your success on. Cubensis will grow regardless of what you call it. genetics are up to gamble:stoned:...

Sub-variety is quite irrelevant most of the time you are quite right, a cube is a cube.  But, I trust Ralphsters genetics storage which has been around for a long time, and Terence McKenna did the original isolates for PE and Syzygy even longer still, while RR had a hand in PE6 later on, like I said, not important.. just a thing of sentiment, and I tend to look at masters in any hobby, and try to learn the way they do things, and simply carry it on or if I'm lucky find a way to add to it and be part of the evolution/wiki of things.  Mostly I just stick to watching the best do their thing and try to learn as much as I can.

So of course, many generations of multi-spore production leads far away from the original fruit/s that were isolated by T.M. and all it takes is one, but, genetics do play a small role.  Plus I trusted Ralpsters syringes to be clean, and so far that appears to be valid...that and I'm re-building my spore/culture/seed collections.  Sentiment I guess.

Thanks for the vibes and I could use the luck.  Put a lot into removing any source of contamination near the grow area and ideally being able to operate even in a dirty room - kinda went the whole 9 yards, short of a flowhood (yet...thats next!)

I would disagree with the sentiment that "a cube is a cube" in blunt english. Speaking purely out of opinion growth patterns & aesthetic features vary greatly from strain to strain. Yet random occuring genetics play the largest role in end results. I can clearly see you are headed in the right direction...You have more "where with all" then most i see come by here... I see good things coming your way...cheers:raisemyglass:

I've always semi-disagreed with the cube is a cube statement for that reason as well, but then I realized cubes were, while not to be talked down on in any way, a beginners species of shroom, and in that sense - compared to other psych species of fungi, a cube is a cube... for sure, lol.  But yea, I've seen crazy variations and mutants for ages with all types.  I've also seen some GT isolates put off 1.5x potency than a normal cube, like true PE.  My next move is an actual lab workspace and I'll be running a naturopathic business (legit) so the use of advanced techniques will be required, and even if it wasn't, I'd do it anyway.

Appreciate the complements, put a lot of methodology into what I do so it's nice when people notice.

Oh, and assuming I don't get screwed by Murphy's Law and deal w/ contams this time around, I will be holding a spore print giveaway for PE6 and Syzygy in the Marketplace at the end of the grow, I promised LeopardMan, I keep my promises.

Apologies for no update, wasn't sure how to photograph the LC's

Opted for taking macros of them in front of an envirolight.

These are my "starter LC's" - I'm working on custom SFD/RTVGS wide-mouth plastic lids for my quart jars, and will devote 2-4 of them to SITR turbinado LC's.

I now have a 440CFM 6" carbon scrubber in the grow area, with a fan controller set to about 10-15% - the thing is a monster...

EDIT_

Also - I think I may just order the organic rye for this one.  I spared no damn expense in any other area, and I'm just getting started..

This is super exciting! Good work on all the pre-prep. You'll never have to make that 3am run to Walmart in the middle of PCing haha.

Pretty damn fast...

Wish I'd have gotten stills before I shook them this morning, they only sat for about 10 minutes prior to pics so when fully settled its much thicker.  The syzygy taking slightly longer to pop off but still doing quite well.

I'd say the PE6 is about ready for transfer... below are pics of the Syzygy single, PE6 pair side by side and then one of the PE6's shook up.

Haha nice.  Yea, I decided to do that for my starters as they are relatively hard to fuck up and I don't want to see any more contamination, and just plan on transferring to SFD fitted quart jars.  Cheap, convenient, easy, it works.

Soon.

Lmao, yea.. I'm stuck on a few items still, my fingers in botany are far more expensive and have come first since I bought the bulk of my supplies, I have a damn long list of items/stock - enough not to worry about a damn thing, but I do not have SFD's to use on my wide-mouth plastic lids so im currently doin' the tyvek thing with WBS, and I can't find any rye in my area (never have been able too, I should grow that too) and don't want to pay overnight shipping on a 25lb bag off amazon, lol.

Anyways, point being I still gotta get a few things.  Like petri dishes.  My local area, also does not sell agar, I've looked in the strangest of places for -years- so all of that stuff must be purchased online.  No big deal but I see no sense of urgency to do it right now.  I do at least have the right tools for all this (hole saw bit set, good power drill, lot of tools, etc) got the 1.5" bit as well for the monotubs, smaller ones for the plastic lids.  Will be very clean looking home-made SFDLids.  All good things come to those who wait~

Pictures from the last couple of days.  I don't like how the Syzygy keeps going for the surface, think too many spores got into that bottle during inoculation, not enough oxygen inside the bottle perhaps.

The others are kickin' well!

Oh, also.  I may order some high mountain compost and rye berries, haven't decided since I can do without... but I'm moving my grow to a whole new area deep in the country all newly furnished, beautiful.  Can't wait.

EDIT_

Forgot to mention...where I'm moving the grow... is to take care of horses, and they love them some grass...

Alright, going to be making my move in 3 days.  Decided I don't trust the Syzygy but I'm gonna give it a try anyways because I have pre-sterilized WBS I kinda just wanna "see what happens" with.

I'm going to completely redo all new batches of rye w/ manure I decided, for the PE6.

Anyways, here is an LC picture update (04-14-2015)

Really liking how these PE6 are looking; the Syzygy I believe got too many spores into it due to a very thick spore syringe and the lid pressurized quite a bit even after a proper cool down period, at least, I thought.

You tell me...

Alright, couldn't resist.  Threw together a 1-minute alcohol burner and went at 24 quarts of WBS spawn with a bunchhh of liquid culture, lol.  The PE6 was beautiful, can't wait.

Wanted to get this going while I wait on SFD's and such for next run.

The last picture is the best PE6 SITR-Turbinado LC I did not use/touch yet, for transfer to quart jars of LC and rye grains.
