what to do
    #2144347 - 11/29/03 02:50 PM (17 years, 3 months ago)

I have a jar that is giving me some troubles, heres the situation: I innoced a few jars not too long back. There was one jar that only had 2 innoculation points grow mycelium. What ended up happening was the mycelium grow all the way around and then into each other finally, but a section of the jar is having problems growing the mycelium. This is evident since the mycelium doesn?t look like its colonizing that area all too well.

and
to see what i mean. Should I just leave it be? What if it doesn?t grow into that area by birthing time?

Well you can't birth it until it is fully colonized or you are guaranteed nasty contamination problems...either wait or start over, my advice.

i would say just definitely wait and be patient, but if it stalls and refuses to grow, you could cut off all of the uncolonized substrate and case it, but then there is a chance of contams

I would say give it another week or so and If no ugly things start to grow birth it. Then cut off the un used portion and case it. Ohh and Pray for the best.

zulu, try starting you own thread rather then hijacking this one.

i would cut off the uncolonized part and birth it

im a little worried still. its been a few days and its still not colonized. currently im thinking of either A) birthing it early with hopes that new fuzzy white mycelium will engulf it (yes im aware of the risks of contamination) or B) cut off the uncolonized substrate. What are your overall opinions?
