Findings in the snow! ID request
    #21442685 - 03/22/15 11:14 AM (9 years, 1 month ago)

I am pretty new in learning to identify mushrooms. I went to a mycology meeting out here in California. I showed some members pictures of mushrooms I found. I'm pretty sure these mushrooms are Oyster mushrooms but I just need a second opinion. I plan on going back to pick these babies up if they are edible !

This mushroom I found about 3 weeks ago after the snow came in. The mushroom was growing on a tree stump. It was in the mountain areas. This specimen did not have a stem, had gills, and an yellowish orange color. There were no bruises, it had a shroomy smell. I did not have forge the specimen so I do not have a sporeprint, but I can provide a picture:

I will post more pictures of other species I found in this area upon request ! I found many many different species of mushroom in the same area, but on two different occasions.

Probably a Pleurotus species.

Oysters are in the genus Pleurotus but he doesn't think your find is the right species, it's just in the right genus.
