Climate controlled storage

My foaf is having alot of trouble growing at his house being he still lives with his parents. To much inconsistency about when they are home leads to him missing alot of deadlines like when he needs to case, when he needs to start a new batch of jars etc.
So the easiest solution he thought of would be to rent an apartment. Basically it could be really shitty, because all he needs is a stove and a place to store his materials. (fruiting chamber, incubator etc) Unfortunately all the apartments in his area are 400 dollars a month at the cheapest.
So his next idea was to rent a climate controlled storate unit. He would have plenty of room to store his supplies in there, as well as an outlet to bring a portable stove to do the actual innoculation. The only problem he has with this idea is the legality issues.
Do the owners of these climate controlled units typically have drug dogs or police come and search them for drug related paraphenalia? Any specific risks being taken in doing this? Basically can you think of any problems he might run into going down this route.
Thanks alot for the help.

If your friend grew stones(tampanensis or mexicana)there would have to be no sounds of pumps, humidifiers, etc.Just leave them in the jars and get all you want.

http://www.u-haul.com/storage/policies.html Since U-Haul is one of the largest storage facilities in the US, I would say their policies are most typical of other places. For the protection of your stored goods, our areas are treated with pest-control chemicals. They probably spray for bugs and lay poison for rodents every season, meaning they unlock the units and enter at will. You must leave your room clean Or in other words, workers inspect the units. How else would they know how dirty the space is? Storage places are private property and the owners have the legal right to enter and inspect. Whether or not they have to provide warning of their entrance like landlords must is unknown. My guess would be owners/managers/employees can enter at will without letting the lease holder know - people probably have to sign a contract that would allows this. I doubt they have drug dogs sniff around on a regular basis, but that does not matter anyways considering dogs are usually not trained for psilocybe detection. Your friend can always call a random storage place and ask what the privacy policies are (call from a payphone). But I think we all know what the answer will be. Growing in a storage space is not a good idea - it is highly risky and has too many unknown variables attached. I would avoid this action at all costs. Chances are some manager or employee will open the space eventually while doing routine maintance and they will call the police in a heartbeat.
